Jan 13, 2025 The hardest part of putting together this mixtape is narrowing it down to 16 songs. Even though 16 feels pretty generous, especially if the songs are long. When you have a full library to choose from it adds up quick. I'm already looking forward to making another one with focus on making it cohesive. Maybe a 50/50 type thing.
Jan 13, 2025 My problem is I like way too many songs to keep track of. There could be a song I used to be in love with but I completely forget it even existed until 2 years later when it comes on shuffle. The “Favorite Songs” playlist on Apple Music that assembles all the songs I’ve favorited is helpful though
Jan 13, 2025 I can totally relate. I've been slowly adding songs to my library since I was a kid so at this point I’ve got thousands of songs. Luckily, everything’s well organized on my computer. I did a whole clean-up a few years ago and would highly recommend using MusicBrainz and MP3Tag. Then you just have to label them properly as you add them. Takes a couple minutes.
Jan 13, 2025 I just landed on something I'm happy with but I was struggling for like 30mins to remove Carole King and Danzig, it hurt me on a spiritual level lmao
Jan 14, 2025 Wreckless - Get Wreck’d Favorites: UNHALLØWED, Breaking Bad, I Will Be Here, Nightcall, All I Need Is You, The Beginning of the End Least Favorites: Kingston Town, Le bureau, L'an 40, Lobby, Québec Gold, Someday RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 6/10 This playlist has some diversity, that’s for sure. There’s rock, rap, reggae, electronic, etc. I imagine this playlist has something for almost everyone in the group. That’s a very thoughtful thing to do and could be great for some people. The songs in my “Least Favorites” category are what lower my rating the most. They aren’t terrible songs but in most cases I either couldn’t vibe with them or there were things that bothered me about the songs. For example, I don’t like hook on “Lobby” at all as it’s very long-winded, and I don’t like the artist’s voice. I don’t like a lot of the vocal delivery on “Someday”, it almost goes into corny territory for me. The songs in my “Favorites” category are mostly great. If I had to make a top 3 it would probably be: Nightcall UNHALLØWED Breaking Bad “Nightcall” is a classic I’ve heard many times. I love the drama of “UNHALLØWED” and the suicidal lyrics. “Breaking Bad” contains a dope, chill beat and chorus along with smooth flows from Freddie. I also need to mention “The Beginning of the End” as it’s such a fitting and beautiful ending lol, the lyrics of the song even end with “the end”. Overall, this is a decent or above average mixtape/playlist. For such a diverse project, this could’ve been a lot worse. There are more songs I liked than disliked so that’s awesome. @AOTWClub
Jan 14, 2025 Lobby is one of the replacement tracks. "Someday" is pretty great though haha. I do agree it's a bit corny. I first heard it a long time ago when the movie "Never Back Down" came out. I figured the french songs would be the least popular for obvious reasons, but I thought it was a fun chance to include them anyway. I appreciate the feedback.
Jan 14, 2025 Ahhhh I see. I didn’t mind the verses tbh it was just that hook I couldn’t get behind They definitely aren’t bad or anything, I just didn’t love them. I guess part of it is I’m not really used to hearing French songs. I usually listen to music in English or Spanish with very occasional K-Pop
Jan 14, 2025 Even if you didn't like them that's fine lol You don't miss out as much when listening to metal or electronic music in a foreign language as you do in rap, where the lyrics are the central part of the experience. Le Bureau is basically a raw behind the scenes look at the life of a stripper. That guy is great at tackling dark topics and his story telling is amazing. "Le bureau" means the office. Basically what a day in the office looks like for a stripper.
Jan 16, 2025 @AOTWClub Silver Jews have claimed second spot, get your reviews in for @Wreckless mixtape !! I tallied it earlier than passed out and forgot to post about it lol
Jan 17, 2025 @Wreckless Get Wreck'd - REVIEW How I'm going to do the mixtape ratings will be different than the albums. Considering they are not meant to be built like projects and are more so playlists, I will take the amount of songs I liked and divide it by how many tracks, which leaves this mixtape with a score of... SCORE: 5.6 (9/16) This mixtape had pretty much a 50/50 on songs I liked vs. songs I wasn't into. There were no AWFUL songs by any means, I was never itching to hit the skip button, just the songs I did not like/save to my collection weren't my cup of tea. Some of these songs have a potential to grow on me, so I hope you don't take the score of the mixtape personal! Extremely diverse mixtape, which I appreciate. There were songs on here that are out of the box for me musically like I really enjoyed! I was impressed by the range of songs on here, cool mix Wreckless! SAVED SONGS: Boarding Pass, Don't Stay, Ready To Fall, Kingston Town, UNHALLOWED, Breaking Bad, L'an 40, Nightcall, All I Need Is You @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Jan 17, 2025 I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of having an album cover for the playlist. I didn’t feel like being accused of being “pretentious”.
Jan 17, 2025 I have a few ideas in mind. One of them is actually an alternate photo from the cover photoshoot of an album I really like. Sometimes I like it better
