Lol if there’s an album where I don’t like a single song on it I’ll probably give it a 1/10 or something

My scoring system for the mixtapes will probably cause my scores to be much harsher than the albums, but it’s about time I get a little more harsh on here

I was going to basically use the same system you’re using but I’ve already caught flak for giving albums low ratings so I’m not gonna let math decide my score and put me in a situation where I have to rate a mixtape 2/10 or something

If I feel like it’s TOO harsh then I’ll boost it, but a 5.6 for a tape where I enjoyed a little more than half the songs seems fair

Makes sense. Since these are projects put together by our members rather than professional recording artists, I don’t wanna be as harsh on these mixtapes as I would an actual album

I always felt like that would too extreme. It's definitely happened a few times were I wasn't feeling any of the songs.

For example, I gave Melodrama a 5 and
hated all of it for the most part and called it elevator music.

If I like 50% of the songs on an album I'm definitely giving it a 7.5 at least.

Looks like i'm going to have to update my criteria for mixtapes lol

My criteria for albums is quite literally “this score feels right and aligns with how I feel about it”

A lot of people liked the Clancy album from twenty one pilots last year and I gave that s--- a 2.5, I liked one song so I couldn’t give that album a 5 but I liked elements of songs on the album and didn’t like the song overall which boosted the score up from a potential 1.5.

Another example would be popular monster, the only reason I gave that album a 0.5 instead of a 0 is because of the Jelly Roll and Tech N9ne features, but they weren’t enough for me to like the songs themselves

I’ll just say this now: if I give your tape a low score please don’t take it personal or as me shi--ing on your music taste, it’s just how the tape aligns with my taste

Thankfully I’ve liked at least SOMETHING about all the albums we’ve listened to… even the ones I hated and rated 3/10. That’s rare though, most of my ratings have been 6/10 or higher. 6/10 is above average to me so I feel like that’s not a bad score at all

Same here. I was just joking for being called out for being a harsh critic. It's never really been a concern to me how others rate albums.

Honestly, aside from 3 or 4 albums, I haven't really enjoyed more than half the songs on any album. But maybe that's just my limited taste.

    Wreckless - Get Wreck'd
Alright, first mixtape time. Before listening to the mixtape, there was only one song that I was familiar with, that being Nightcall. I've loved that song ever since I watched Drive for the first time so I expectedly loved it once again. I was familiar with some of the artists featured on the tape beforehand (Wiz, Freddie, Jim Jones, Lecrae), but I had never listened to the songs that were chosen. So I was pretty excited going in.

I want to start with the songs that I loved. I actually really liked the foreign language tracks. This might be a weird comparison, but they reminded me of when I would drive around in GTA IV while listening to the non-English/Spanish stations (s/o to Vladivostok FM and Massive B Soundsystem!!!). Even if I don't understand the lyrics, I really f--- with the energy. Le Bureau was definitely my favorite of the bunch, but Kingston Town was really good too. Breaking Bad was also pretty good, but I've always been into Freddie so this wasn't surprising.
Wanna give some mentions to Don't Say and All I Need Is You as well.

I do have to admit that there were some songs I didn't love though. I don't hate them or anything, but they were the songs I enjoyed the least. Wreckless mentioned that Lobby was a replacement track, and I didn't really enjoy it that much so I really wonder what track it replaced. Wasn't too keen on UNHALLOWED or the closer either. They weren't bad or anything, they're just not really my thing.

Overall, I really enjoyed Get Wreck'd. I feel that it works very well as as an intro for the mixtape era of the club, and I added a few of the tracks to some playlists. Big thanks to @Wreckless for the pick, and yeah.

On a sidenote I think that this club's Top 5 is very varied in a good way. All very good albums imo

Not gonna reveal the tracklisting for my mixtape until tomorrow of course, but I wanted to give a quick heads up. I'm gonna share the Spotify link with the announcement, but for those who use other platforms, Track 15 might be a bit weird to find. It's a track from Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol 2, an album where all the tracks (aside from one) are numbered instead of having a proper track name. The track on the mixtape is known as either "#19" or "Stone In Focus". It got rereleased as a single last year, but most standard versions of the album have #19 as a completely different track (also known as Hexagon). If any of y'all are using Apple Music or any other method just know that the track's cover and length are like this
