Apr 12, 2025 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Justin Trudeau - Rite of Exorcism I appreciate the concept, and there were a few classic songs on here that I enjoy individually. But overall, I found a lot of the music a bit too gimmicky. Maybe because I'm hungover but it wasn't really vibing with a lot of this. Sorry for the harsh review but I will give this a 6/10
Apr 12, 2025 I knew from the rip I wanted Nothing Else Matters as the outro, just had to find a way to progress into that haha
Apr 13, 2025 at 3:38 AM Justin Trudeau - I Stole Michaels Idea mixtape Okay.... so at first I wanted to do literally something like this and I switched to a more 'all genres' mixtape the last minute. Wanted to recycle some of the songs for my next but u already used them here. f--- u Justin! I wanted to do horror tv show / movie songs. Which I'm still gonna do but without some undeniable classics labeled in my review as 'f--- u Justin' Witchy Woman - nice relax song, smooth opening. In the right mood I love the Eagles. 9/10 I Put A Spell On You - nice continuation of the witch theme. Not a huge fan of 'screamy' rock but this isn't that bad I kinda like it! 7/10 Devil Went To Georgia - catchy as h---, I get not everyone likes this but I like the whole 'Irish' vibe. And yeah ur talking to a horror fan so this theme, demons > 8/10 Bark At The Moon - Werewolves! Yeah this one is nice too. 7.5/10 Werewolves Of London - Werewolves! Also this melody had been copied a lot lol. However f--- u Justin 1/10 (But really, 9/10) A Nightmare On My Street - dope Freddy sample but never really got that much into this song. 6.5/10 Somebody's watching me - classic. 9/10 He's Back - THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK. I mean how can I not give this a 10/10. But also I really like this. Night Prowler - huge ACDC fan here. Not everything, but most. This I haven't heard a lot, it's not my fav but dope nontheless. 7/10 Don't Fear The Reaper - f--- you Justin Living Dead Girl - was never a huge RZ fan, but I have to say this instrumental is f---ing amazing. Vocals are cool. 7.5/10 Pet Semetary - nice and catchy. 7.5/10 Shout at the Devil - not the biggest fan, altough the instrumental rocks! 6.5/10 The Omen - yeah not sure about this. Love the spooky vibe, fits the theme, but not going back a lot to this. 7/10 Carry On.... f--- you Justin. 10/10 Average 8,1/10 @AOTWClub All jokes aside nice tape bro @Justin Trudeau
Apr 14, 2025 at 2:14 PM DiggleDogg69 - Everyone’s (FIFTH) Favorite MIXTAPE Favorites: No More ?’s, Everlasting Bass, Sunset Driver - Demo, Dancing Queen, Wheel in the Sky, Call Me RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 7/10 I’ll get some negatives out of the way first. I just didn’t feel Uncle Albert, Baby Blue, or Sabotage. They aren’t bad songs by any means, but they definitely felt like the weakest songs to me. Oh and I don’t like Bad Reputation. It annoys me and I think it’s extremely corny. In a way, it’s like everything I hate about this era of music packed into one song. Definitely belongs in a s-----y Fast & Furious trailer or something. Other than that this mixtape is good. I keep mentioning the beginnings and endings of these projects, but that’s almost always a big thing for me and this mixtape delivers. Nothing Else Matters is a great way to close the mixtape, it feels like the ending credits. And honestly that first three song run on here is generational. Having a song they sampled on “Like That” by Future was awesome, that beat is insane. Sunset Driver just shows how great Michael Jackson was at music, even his demos sound better than a lot of people’s finished songs. And of course Eazy E is a legend and No More ?’s is an extremely entertaining listen. There’s a bunch of other classic songs on here that I’m sure others will get into on their reviews but I just gotta mention Dancing Queen. What a song with such a vibe. It really just feels masterful. I can’t think of any other song quite like it. Overall, there’s some songs here I really don’t like but it’s still a good mixtape with a lot of classic songs. @AOTWClub
Apr 14, 2025 at 2:25 PM Thanks for the review @Ripper Roo ! Gonna respond in full later alongside a big post about why I chose each song, been so busy the last couple days
Apr 14, 2025 at 2:27 PM Gonna get to the tape soon, but seeing a song from Ram on here is a big plus for me already
Apr 14, 2025 at 2:53 PM @AOTWClub Everybody's fifth favorite mixtape It took me a minute to recognize the beat from Everlasting Bass. I knew it sounded familiar and then it hit me, it was sampled on Drought 3. Cool to hear the original track in it’s full form. There’s a lot of good stuff on here. Some of my favorites in no particular order were Everlasting Bass, We Got The Beat, Call Me, Wheel in the Sky , My Own Summer, Heart-Shaped Box, Wish You Were Here, and Nothing Else Matters. Wish You Were Here is honestly one of the most beautiful songs ever written and Heart Shaped Box is such a standout Nirvana track. Nothing Else Matters used to hit harder for me, but I’ve heard it so many times growing up that it's lost a bit of its impact. On the flip side, my least favorite was I’ll Be Loving You (Forever). I didn’t think it was possible to out-gay the Backstreet Boys. Though to be fair maybe the music video just made it worse. Uncle Albert wasn’t really my thing either. The mixtape leans a little mainstream at times (Dancing Queen being another good example), but I appreciated the inclusion of some lesser known tracks too. Overall, this is a strong collection and there's definitely a few tracks I will be adding to my library. Nice work putting it together. 8.5/10
Apr 14, 2025 at 3:10 PM Never ever thought I’d see the day where Wreckless gives me a higher score than Roo
Apr 14, 2025 at 3:18 PM I'm really glad your mixtape was good. I'd have felt like an a------ giving it a low score after you gave mine a 10 last round lol. But hey, it's never personal either way
Apr 14, 2025 at 3:36 PM It’s hard to think of a song released in the 21st century that hits the same dopamine highs as this masterpiece. The buildup and solo are pure perfection. I'd throw Wish You Were Here in the same category.
Apr 14, 2025 at 5:47 PM It has been said a million times already but the song is a literal masterpiece. The whole buildup is timeless and out of this world, sounds like some fantasy s---.
Apr 14, 2025 at 8:50 PM Been struggling for days trying to make a few songs fit the mood of my mixtape but it just isn’t happening. Hopefully the transitions won’t be too jarring. Did any of you struggle like this with your tapes? To me it feels tougher to assemble something that makes sense this time around.
Apr 14, 2025 at 9:21 PM This was a big problem for me when I was making mine. I would come up with a track order, then I'd think that the transition was bad and redo it. It took me like 2 weeks to actually come up with an order that I was semi-satisfied with, and even then I continued tweaking it in the days before the week started
Apr 14, 2025 at 9:26 PM Yours flowed super well, was seamless actually. I’m out here trying to make make a transition of gothic rock into britpop work and it is NOT going well !!
Apr 15, 2025 at 12:03 AM I’m taking a different approach with my mixtape this time. It’s gonna be less album like and more mixtape like in the sense that there isn’t necessarily a story or tracklist flow that I’m worrying about. I’m just making this s--- raw as possible, putting together a bunch of songs I like without worrying about the outcome. If that results in lower ratings I’m okay with it. Ripper Raw is in the building.
Apr 15, 2025 at 5:11 PM Stairway to Heaven is a perfect fusion of sounds. It’s not just music. It’s emotion made audible.
Apr 15, 2025 at 7:00 PM @Justin Trudeau - Rite of Exorcism: A Possession Story: review I’ll start my review off by saying that this is a very well-assembled mixtape. Everything sounded meticulous and deliberate, the tape did not suffer sonically in order for its concept to succeed. I enjoyed most of the mix but there were some tracks that did not hit as hard (mostly due to personal preference). Strong opener with Witchy Woman. This song is a classic that establishes the mood of the mix very well. For some reason, despite listening to them on and off for years, I always forget about Eagles and their music lol. This track transitions into what is probably one of my favorite Manson tracks (listened to some of his releases but am not as familiar with his discography as I’d like). Great energy, I love his vocals and the way they sound on top of those violently anthemic drums. The Devil Went Down to Georgia has always been such a weird track for me. There are parts I really enjoy, like the story telling and the build up towards this clash of the fiddlers lol. I like the whole epic poem-esque setup but the track falls short near the end. Imo the Devil kinda cooked this guy’s a--- cause that lil chorus near the end sucks absolute a---, totally puts me off the song. I like folk instrumentation and the celtic influences but The Charlie Daniels Band executes it kinda weirdly. Ozzy Osbourne takes it over from there with Bark at the Moon. This isn’t my favorite Ozzy track but I love it regardless. Ozzy is king and this headnodder transitioned into Werewolves of London. This is a song that I’ve always had a sweet spot for. Very fun and endearing; the pianos and that chorus really crawl under your skin. Zevon is so tongue in cheek, with this song he perfected the autism to groove ratio. A Nightmare On My Street is a solid track, I like the production and how surprisingly well the old school flows work in a track like this. The rapping is entertaining, good balance of humor and plot development. It does drag out a bit though but that’s just me being nit-picky. Somebody’s Watching Me remains timeless. Most people recognize the MJ chorus and don’t give much credit to the great verses. Definitely a legendary song. He’s Back (The Man Behind The Mask) is a song that took me a while to warm up to but I’m starting to appreciate it more and more. It is a simple track that relies on its catchy melodies but I don’t really fault it for that since it is a decent listen. I am probably the last guy you’d want to talk to if you like AC/DC because I am a borderline hater of this band (always have been), and as such Night Prowler was a bit of a slog to get through - I wasn’t really impressed. Luckily it was followed by (Don’t Fear) The Reaper, a song that’s as classic as it gets. I love hearing this track whenever it comes on. It has always been a favorite of mine, I love pretty much everything about this one: the timbre of the guitars, the laid-back singing and the fantastic lyricism that it delivers, the melodies, and the arrangement. Absolute perfection. This great song is followed by Living Dead Girl. This is the first Rob Zombie song I’ve ever heard and I wasn’t let down. Took a bit for it to click with me but now I enjoy how absolutely filthy it sounds, lmao. Hearing Pet Sematary again was nice, it is a legendary song and its hook is, after all this time, still stuck in my head. Shout at the Devil was kind of forgettable, did not really stick with me at all. It’s fine I guess but not a song I have any desire of really checking out again. I f----- with DMX’s performance on The Omen but found the Marilyn chorus a tad bit awkward. Still a solid song, though. The next track is what this is all about. Legendary stuff! I love this song to pieces. This s--- takes me back to the days of binge watching Supernatural and jamming out to this track during the opening scenes of every season’s last episode. Such a poetic yet intense track. We mentioned Stairway To Heaven ITT yesterday and this Kansas track, to me, shares some similarities with it. Something about it just sounds so mythological. This to me would be the perfect closer track but it was followed by the Gravediggaz song which I found to be just fine. It lacks that little something that would elevate it beyond that. Overall, this was a good mix of legendary songs and ones that I hadn’t heard before. I had a lot of fun listening to it! Thanks for the tape, man. 7.3/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Apr 16, 2025 at 4:02 PM @Justin Trudeau @AOTWClub Rites Of Exorcism: Starting I'll say I really like the entire idea and sequencing of this tape, seems like one of the highest effort ones so far and it's filled with some great stuff. Witchy Woman was a cool opener, I obviously know some stuff but never got super into The Eagles so it was nice to hear them. I Put A Spell On You is also great, Manson has a really good grasp of his sound and I can usually expect good quality from what he wants to do with his music. Not much to say about The Devil Went Down To Georgia, its a classic, no flaws. 10/10 Bark At The Moon is also a classic, not one of the Ozzy tracks I hear as much as the others but still equally iconic. Haven't heard it in a minute so it was a nice revisit. Werewolves Of London is a 10 for me, I f---in love this song. Everything about it is so fun in a non obnoxious way. I much prefer this to the other song with the same chord progression (Sweet Home Alabama) I wanted to like A Nightmare On My Street more, it's a little long winded for me and this era of rap storytelling is pretty hit or miss for me in general, the concept is fun though! Somebody's Watching Me is also a 10, not only is it already a perfect song but it has MJ on backup vocals. If anyone doesn't like this song they deserve to get old yeller'd He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) is another great one, I never went deep into the Alice Cooper discography but my brother has been lately and he got me to agree to go to a concert with him which should be fun lol. Night Prowler, another classic. AC/DC can be hit or miss for people but I mostly enjoy their work. (Don't Fear) The Reaper is closely related to other media that I forget just how great the song is front to back another 10/10 for sure, it's been a minute since I listened to it in full. And I assume this isn't intentional but my autism associations liked that a Rob Zombie track came right after considering they both have a connection to the Halloween franchise. Speaking of. Living Dead Girl is a personal favorite, I always liked Rob Zombies wacky s--- whether it be between his movies (which are overhated) or his Batman Beyond a--- music. Good choice but for anyone who hasn't listened he has plenty of great tracks on top of this. Another band my brother has been wanting me to got on a deep dive with him on is The Ramones, same situation as Alice Cooper where I like what I heard but never did much diving into the discography. I really like them though and need to listen to more besides their first album, this is a great track. A classic and very catchy. Shout At The Devil tickles my Guitar Hero autism brain so I'll forever love this song in a way more than just being an all around good song cause it permeated my childhood in a very real way lol The Omen was a solid choice for a DMX pick I think in terms of rap storytelling this works for me much better, it's not something I listen to often but I always enjoyed it and I think Marilyn kills it. Not much to say about Carry on My Wayward Son, again one of the most iconic rock songs ever made and it deserves every bit of praise it gets, another one in the guitar hero pantheon of changing my brain chemistry and shaping the music I liked growing up. I thought I wasn't going to enjoy 1-800 Suicide just cause sometimes horrorcore stuff can be a little try hard to me but this was fun! Solid closer to an all around pretty great mixture. Favorite Songs: Werewolves Of London, Somebody's Watching Me, He's Back, Don't Fear The Reaper, Living Dead Girl, Pet Sematary, Shout At The Devil, Carry on My Wayward Son RATING 9.5/10
