After relistening to my album pick for the first time in years yesterday, I proceeded to listen to it at least 10 more times in a row. I think some people are really gonna like this.

This isn't Marsh specific but I genuinely don't understand people who just listen to the music they know and that's it, giving everything a chance and getting interested in stuff as a whole is what makes me appreciate every kind of art form I consume whether it's music, movies, games, whatever.

I think it really makes you appreciate how and why the great things are great if you are exposed to the whole spectrum of quality, listening to nothing but hits means you're consuming mostly mid and I can't fathom it lmao

A lot of people just like to stick to what they’re comfortable with. A lot of people like to box others in and in turn they box themselves in and never go outside of that box. They get convinced that their perspective of everything is the absolute correct perspective and nothing will convince them otherwise. This gets worse as they get older.

They think because they think a certain way, that MUST be how things really are. And with the way today’s world is, these types of people are more emboldened than ever before to be blatantly ignorant and close-minded. This thought process spills into everything in their lives including music. Only the music they like is good and everything else is trash.

I feel like Eminem actually got me more into music than anyone. I remember when MMLP dropped i bought the album, then had to check out who all the features were so I bought the Snoop, Dre, Xzibit albums that dropped around that time. Then I'd pick up artists id heard on their s---, then I'd dig deeper and deeper finding more and more different s--- I liked.

Then once spotify came around I went wild, checking out different labels and bands I'd heard of but never really checked out.

To say you actually love music is exploring different genres and sounds and what not. I remember how excited I was that "Houdini" sampled Steve Miller Bands "Abracadabra" id listened to that song hundreds of times.

I feel like people like @Marsh (no offence) don't actually respect music they just try to fit in and listen to what's cool or popular. It's sort of a pandemic of sorts in today's society and it stems from social media. So many idiots just repeat what others say like a parrot instead of forming their own opinion.

Good example I used last night was @Marsh not listening to The Clipse album. Guy literally made his decision not to listen cause they dissed drake. Who cares? And he'll beak off and say its cause of the "Pablo Escobar" bars but the real reason is cause they've hurt his feelings dissing his hero.

My bad y’all, I was gonna post right at midnight but I gotta a little uhhhhhhhhh busy before then. Anyway

    Ripper Roo’s album pick is…

    IDK - Is He Real?
    IMG_7363.jpeg

I’ve been meaning to pick this album for a long time but kept choosing other albums instead. But this timing actually is divine because upon revisiting this album a few days ago I realized this album just had its 6 year anniversary 3 days ago. So honestly that just makes me think it was supposed to work out this way. I’m not gonna say much else about this album so y’all can go in raw. Enjoy. @AOTWClub

That’s the main reason I stayed consistent with the club and started doing my discog deep dives. I had an entire list of albums I needed to listen to/give a good relisten to (the list is actually somewhere within the first few pages of this thread), and I guarantee the list would be 2x longer by now. This actually encouraged me to tackle more albums on top of chop down that list a little

I have a friend who only listened to like 2-3 artists, mainly Eminem. Every time I got in his car it was just Eminem on repeat. Some people don’t listen to music. Hard to believe, but some folks genuinely don’t care. I’m not convinced they’re human.
