Jan 5, 2019 Nahh, if an interviewer properly pushes back and exposes the interviewees hideous views, one can give anyone a platform. With proper pushback, that means more people are less likely to hop on board with the interviewees abhorrent views.
Jan 5, 2019 This is literally the opposite of the truth. This will go off the rails. Kanye is a poorly spoken person and Joe is not going to let him spiral out of control as he does when he rants. I cannot wait.
Jan 5, 2019 Or, conversely, you can s--- on somebody's views without platforming them in the first place.
Jan 5, 2019 I think that with the proper pushback it’s more effective to have a back and forth of dialogue. It deters more people from jumping on board with someone’s s-----y views. The interviewer can call out the misinformation right to his or her face and expose their bs in real time.
Jan 6, 2019 You realize that one of the best ways to show the true ignorance of someone is giving them a platform right? All the best interviewers of all time have interviewed and entertained far worse people than candace owens. A good interviewer doesnt have to constantly press the interviewee, there are other ways to conduct a more telling interview. Joe Rogan's approach is to let the guest get comfortable, let them talk freely and their truth will come up eventually. Grill your interviewee and they will just close up, dodge the question, or it will turn into an arguement/screaming match, which is a waste of time. Turn on Fox or CNN if you think good interviewing is obvious stone lobbing questions and passive aggression. I dont want to live in a world in which there are only interviews for people that hold socially acceptable views, some of the most interesting interviews came from the worst people.
Jan 6, 2019 Public shaming doesn't work. Platforming bad people just makes them and their ideas more visible. Donald Trump is president.
Jan 6, 2019 If the media actually pushed back the right way, instead of just melting down when Trump swore on the campaign trail, he wouldn’t have made it as far. If they informed people on his actual horrible policies and kept hitting him over the head with policy questions he would’ve fizzled. But the media has been s--- for years and only cover sensationalism and hardly ever dive into policy. That’s part of the reason we have Trump. Journalists and commentators aren’t objective with policy and that benefits politicians like Trump.
Jan 6, 2019 I assume you use YouTube and therefore are frequently recommended videos of reactionary dweebs in interviews/debates where they "own" people. That's reaching more people than any unedited interview/debate. Don't be a useful idiot.
Jan 6, 2019 Lol, talk about reactionary A useful idiot? Doesn’t make sense in this back and forth we’ve been having. An example of a useful idiot would be a poor person buying into right wing propaganda and voting for politicians who only care for the rich Me watching interviews of ppl pushing back and questioning views and policies of others doesn’t make me a useful idiot. The David Pakman Show, which I listen to as a podcast (and his show is also on YouTube) has great interview segments that you should check out. He’s anything but a “reactionary dweeb” and it makes no sense whatsoever to label people who watch/listen to him as “useful idiots.”
Jan 7, 2019 You are so much better than everyone else. I bet you walk in a room and people start bowing
Jan 9, 2019 Only on sxn80 do people act like they’re above a random as s--- podcast with all sorts of guests from different trades and talents where they bs around for two hours. They’d have you think Joe Rogan is reestablishing the nazi regime His podcast with Alex Jones is enjoyable as f---
