Feb 16, 2016 "I got a chamber of material from the album that I was in love where sample clearances or something as simple as a deadline kept it off the album." You may have noticed Kendrick Lamar's history of debuting untitled, unreleased songs during his televised performances. In an interview originally conducted for Grammy.com that continued on 2 Dope Boyz, he explained he has a "chamber of material" comprising songs left off his records for various reasons, such as sample clearance issues or deadline struggles. Those songs are then recycled for TV performances. Here's the quote in full: You see all these performances on these late night shows—I got a chamber of material from the album that I was in love where sample clearances or something as simple as a deadline kept it off the album. But I think probably close to ten songs that I’m in love with that I’ll still play and still perform that didn’t make the cut. tl;dr Kendrick has about 10 more unreleased tracks which he'll play in the future We're about to to blessed even more @KendrickSXN
Feb 16, 2016 IIRC it was supposed to be on GKMC, but didn't make it, due to sample clearances. Anyway I hope Kendrick will release a Lost Tapes compilation for all his unreleased work.
Feb 16, 2016 I already knew he had the studio versions of the songs I found this the other day but I forgot to make a thread about it:
Feb 16, 2016 it wasn't sample issues, he went in a different direction with the narrative of the album. "MAAD City" replaced it I'm pretty sure
Feb 16, 2016 I wonder if this means there is a studio version of Untitled 1 somewhere? I would pay so much money for that s---...
Feb 16, 2016 that makes heaps of sense! all these untitled songs he performs with so much energy and i was like wheres it coming from?
Feb 16, 2016 Well if sample clearance is an issue for a lot of them then that makes me think they're studio recordings
