Sep 12, 2017 it's a genre but also what's popular atm, like you can't have a genre that's really popular but not call it pop y'know
Sep 12, 2017 Eminem is a pop artist, currently. has been since just after relapse. Drake is a pop artist, telling is that when he used Grime artists, he was met with pretty s-----y reception from his fan base because grime is not pop. Kendrick lamar is a pop artist, too much social commentary discourse on culture/society etc. it's not really a genre. it's like a mix of cultural aspects relating to music. hard to word it right...
Sep 12, 2017 but he pretty much transcended rap since that moment thats why he was considered a pop superstar
Sep 12, 2017 not that you were making a point of metalica = pop. but my point is like, any genre can be seen as pop. it's all dependent on the culture at the time. using Metallica for example, i'm pretty sure a lot of rock n roll artists/die hard fans would argue Metallica is pretty pop-y for example; http://loudwire.com/depeche-mode-singer-says-metallica-write-pop-songs/
Sep 12, 2017 kendrick stans must protect dot at all cost due to the mans height hes a fragile little manlet
Sep 12, 2017 u think i'm gonna fucken say this s--- and trigger 14000 stans coming here to argue? I agree with yas, but f--- you c---- have opened the floodgates. we're gonna have this thread bumped everyday for the next 2 weeks "EMINUM NOT A POP ARTESS LIKE JUSTIN BEAVERS CRAP GAY SONG"
Sep 12, 2017 It's not that hard to comprehend Rap has taken over mainstream pop radio the past 10 or so years The average high schooler knows who Kendrick and Drake are and listens to their songs Even chicks dig rap and sing along in the car A lot of the biggest singles out are rap
Sep 12, 2017 maybe a good question to ask is rap becoming pop culture? because it's currently the most popular genre? what u guys thots?
