Sep 8, 2016 I don't think it's a fair comparison. Kendrick is more of a traditional rapper, he spits his lines, he does his thing. His production is usually great but that's not the focus when it comes to him, it's HIM essentially or the growth he presents when it comes to his solo music. He's always trying to do something different. He could've done GKMC 2 and some people would've eaten that s--- up. But he chose the riskier move and in some respects it paid off. Travis is not a lyrical rapper in the slightest. Yes, he does make good music! But the dude relies heavily on production and guest features to elevate the song. When it came down to Birds, he was renegaded by Kid Cudi and everyone gave wayy more attention to Andre, Kendrick and Bryson when their features came up then Travis. He also doesnt try to innovate his sound at all, Birds despite being a very good project sounds like Rodeo 2. At least Rodeo had a different sound and vibe from DBR. In the end though, they're 2 different rappers. One's more the classic type and ones the more modern type.
