Mar 10, 2021 Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red Lil Uzi Vert - Eternal Atake They're carti and uzi's best work so far, but they're def harder to get into than their earlier albums. It's like their version of Yeezus where a lot of people hated them at first cuz it sounded different than what they were expecting or used to but people will slowly come around to them over the next year or two (and have already started doing so). If you wanna get into them I'd start with LUV vs. the World or LUV is Rage 2 for Uzi. Carti only has three albums so you can start with his self-titled but honestly Die Lit and Whole Lotta Red are so much betterI never listen to his first one. But it's prob easiest to get into cuz it's much closer to "normal" trap than the other two.
Mar 10, 2021 yeah im definitely not discrediting 2014-17 but i feel like the fact that the era had so many legendary mixtapes and albums and trap became such a massively streamed subgenre makes me feel like its become quite stagnant in comparison, in a way i wish commas wasnt such a massive hit eternal atake and whole lotta red are definitely refreshing but i find myself enjoying the likes of drakeo, blueface and many uk rappers way more than for example all the thug offshoots
Mar 10, 2021 im p sure you've heard flockaveli juicy j's rubba band business 1(mixtape, not the album) rubba band business 2 dirty sprite 1 and astronaut status from future early chief keef (back from the dead, finally rich, almighty so) gucci tapes like burrprint the movie 3d, trap house 3, free bricks 2 w/ young scooter id also recommend the recession from jeezy
Mar 10, 2021 Idk, Die Lit is much better imo, and EA seems overhyped and overrated to me, Uzi said it himself, it's not his best work, not even close.
Mar 10, 2021 I love Die Lit but the more I listen to WLR the more I think it's his best. Same with EA—wouldn't be mad at putting LIR2 over EA but I think EA is his prob his best.
Mar 10, 2021 I already have all their work downloaded. Just need to get over how addictive numb/save me is from ---
Mar 10, 2021 I think Luv is Rage 2 is far better than EA. No songs are as good as The Way Life Goes & Tour Life
Mar 10, 2021 Were you stuck on Em that bad? Zuu is fire, but I will never enjoy --- and personally, Pop Smoke is overrated. He had to die and use a popular old-school sample to gain any relevance. There's so much better music out there than --- and Pop Smoke.
Mar 10, 2021 Perhaps that's true, but I don't think that necessarily makes the album better. I'd rather listen to EA straight thru than LIR2—the latter starts to sag for me after Neon Guts
Mar 10, 2021 I'm surprised more Em fans aren't on Metro Boomin, his production sound and style is similar to a lot of s--- Em used to (and still does) rap over - big dark, atmospheric bangers. Without Warning, Savage Mode 1 & 2, Drop Top Wop and his solo album are all essentials imo. Especially Without Warning and Savage Mode 2, both got that horrorcore sound that Shady Records used to be on back in the day
Mar 10, 2021 The production on SM2 is so f---ing eerie I love it. Em x Metro just needs to happen one day
Mar 10, 2021 To be fair..Em is literally the most unique rapper of all time. I can mostly name rappers that sound/rap alike going back to the 80s. But i struggle to find anyone that rap like Em. That doesnt mean anything positive but he has a very unique identity
Mar 11, 2021 id extend that from 09-15. Young Thug leaks in 2015 were incredible. Last few years I found to be so boring. The genre is badly in need of a fresh sound or some new artists who are not Young Thug or Lil Uzi clones
