Aug 5, 2015 "How is contradicting myself related to this discussion?" You forgot 6pm in New York where he says it's trendy to talk about it, accuses everybody of insincerity, and then follows it up with 4 bars in a diss song. Not to mention his contrived tenderness when it comes to love songs.

Aug 5, 2015 It's a no-no because his whole schtick was "we did this 100% ourselves" when that was true at all. I respect the work they put in, but that was a flat out lie.
Aug 5, 2015 I mean, they produced the album solely by themselves and released The Heist independently. Why shouldn't they try everything to get on the radio? That's the end goal, right?
Aug 5, 2015 There's nothing wrong with doing that at all, but he's still lying about his success being 100% credited to him. We wouldn't be having this conversation if that label hadn't helped him get his s--- on the radio. Plus there's other s---, like he let Wing$ (with edited lyrics that neuter its message) be used in an NBA commercial, the Kendrick text, etc...he's either a sociopath or the most oblivious person on earth.
Aug 5, 2015 They are easily the most independent act to win rap album of the year ever and probably made more per album sold than anybody as well. On top of that they're a two man group who do everything from writing and producing the music to shooting the videos. You're tripping.
Aug 5, 2015 The Kendrick text is the only thing I really had a problem with. I'd say he's more oblivious than anything.. He genuinely thought that was a good idea. Macklemore also played up the whole "sober" story to his advantage then "relapsed" multiple times (a la Josh Hamilton).
Aug 5, 2015 Like I said to JFK, I acknowledge and respect that they put in a ton of work, but we wouldn't be having this conversation if a label didn't help them get on the radio. If not a lie, it's misleading at the very least. lol @JFK was he really relapsing a bunch of times during that whole thing? Didn't even know that.
Aug 5, 2015 I wouldn't call it a "relapse", but more of him easing back into drinking (assumption). He started to refuse to answer questions about his sobriety after his album dropped. Not that we can judge. He can do what he wants. Macklemore did accredit finishing his album to finally becoming sober. Maybe that's why it's been 3 years.
Aug 5, 2015 I dont understand people saying that macklemore makes 'kidz bop' s--- or 'disney' songs He makes some cornier songs sure, but he also writes about drug abuse, materialism, social standards, stereotypes, these are not 12 YO level discussions, People only ever bring up same love when discussing macklemore and just ignore songs like otherside, jimmy iovine, wings, starting again, at the party, life is cinema, etc.
