Premise: David Haller was diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age, and has been a patient in various psychiatric hospitals since. After Haller has an encounter with a fellow psychiatric patient, he is confronted with the possibility that there may be more to him than mental illness.




Has anyone seen this yet? I'm watching the first episode right now. David Haller is the son of Charles Xavier, from what I have figured out so far.... But it's pretty d--- great. I downloaded the first three episodes, and I'm 23 f---in' minutes into the first one and thought to myself "If I had telekinetic powers, I'd be the s---." and then I thought "I'ma go make a thread about this show on SXN80 cause they need to know about this s---."

THE ONLY THING I DISLIKE IS THAT ITS TOTALLY DISCONNECTED FROM EVERYTHING ELSE MARVEL but I would imagine that's what makes the show work. Really like it so far.

Possibly because of the current situation between X-Men Universe and the rest of the Marvel Universe. I'm not sure of the specifics but it's probably cause two different Studios own the rights or some s---.

I don't know how this show will do in the long run. It looks sort of expensive and it's about a very strange comic book character but I am digging it. The last episode was really creepy. I'm assuming that's The Shadow King that keeps haunting him. It still has my attention and hopefully the season concludes well.

I don't think it's an actual book. It seems to be a mechanism that The Shadow King (assuming The Devil With The Yellow Eyes is The Shadow King) uses to control the level of access that David has to his memories to keep him or other telepaths from learning more about Shadow King.

I love the unreliable narrator element. Same thing that drew me into Mr. Robot... I'm halfway into episode 4 and I swear this show keeps surprising the f--- out of me.

He's explicitly stated to be a mutant, so this show is fox's doing

marvel isn't allowed to use that term in their side of things. Hence why scarlet witch and quicksilver are never stated to be mutants in the MCU movies, even though they are, and quicksilver is absolutely magnetos son

Same when I found out Lenny was really some big fat a--- dude, which makes every memory she's in weird as f---. But at the end when she showed him what was happening to trigger his powers, I was so f---in' amped. And as soon, as her fingers wrapped around his shoulder before it was over, I already realized, she's just another manifestation of the YED (Yellow Eyed Devil).

I'm guessing that even though David's whole life has been mistreated because a lot of his abilities were misinterpreted as mental illness, he actually DOES have a mental illness which makes it even worse because he's basically got these internal enemies that are using his own powers to corrupt and mislead him.

I don't know much about the comics, hardly anything at all to be honest, but I'm diggin' this show and I can get behind Hawley in a heartbeat after what he's done with Fargo.

When I saw the premiere, my first inclination was Shadow King. I'm not an expert on that character but I remember him from the 90's X-Men cartoon and the character's powers seem similar. I also know that he torments telepaths, particularly Legion. I wasn't even aware of Shadow King's fat, Kingpin-esque persona from the comics. Some people also said early on that the creature could be Mojo. He does sort of look like Mojo but I highly doubt it.
