Nov 22, 2024 Meme music can only take you so far. I’ll give him points for knowing how to be in touch with social media and memes. But he lacks satire, that’s why it backfires. He should be more like Marshall. And that’s not a Shot at Jack Harlow, that’s just a metaphor.
Nov 22, 2024 I wouldn’t say it’s meme music, but he himself kinda became a meme because he went too far with the antics and not hard enough on the artistry so a lot of people don’t take him seriously. This time around he isn’t even doing the usual antics and it shows because his lead single “LIGHT AGAIN!” is flopping hard. It seems like he’s not even promoting this s--- at all except for maybe on TikTok or Twitter or something. I’m shocked at the low numbers I’m seeing because his last album had huge songs. He also took too long to drop a new album… his last album was in 2021. He’s not solidified enough to take breaks like that. With that being said, I am liking these new songs but they aren’t as catchy as his previous songs. If he wants a hit he needs to drop HOT BOX.
Nov 22, 2024 I like it, but it’s a bad choice for a single. At this point I’m wondering if he’s intentionally trying to flop or something because this is absurd. HOT BOX is right there, and he still hasn’t dropped it. Even DOWN SOUF HOES would be a better pick. With how messy this rollout has been I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some label issues going on.
