Oh..... guess I misread the tone of the thread.

    What's your favorite album?

    Living Things/Hybrid Theory

    Meteora a close third

could never hear the rest of their albums besides a couple of songs here and there and i'd be ok w/ that

Nice, I could never get into the rest if their albums either. I respected Living Things' production but could never get into it.

For me it's a toss up between Hybrid Theory/Reanimation/Meteora. I know Reanimation was a remix album, but it was essentially an entirely different album. Got it on vinyl recently.

Living Things always been a hit for me because of my love of EDM/Electronic stuff in general, but I can see why others might not enjoy it. It's heavy, but in a different way than their other albums. It's sort of like The Path Of Totality by Korn. It's heavy as s--- but if you're not a fan of dubstep or electronic stuff in general, it's probably not going to sit well with you because it's heavy in a different way than their normal stuff, with the guitar taking the sidelines to the synths and drums.

    Nothing like it.

Also very happy to see some good discussion going on in this thread :emoji_thumbsup:

Don't undersell Minutes to Midnight though. It's their most important album.

Wow. One track with guitars sounding like guitars and with Mike rapping? Jesus.

And don't even hit me with that attention to detail, only album where the main draw is production, and Chester's absent screaming croon being impressive. That's bs and a sign of adhering to radio. Attention to detail was in their old stuff, not these bubble gum pop beats.

I'm 3 tracks in and from what I've heard so far off the album (including the singles released before this leaked), my knee-jerk reaction is to say it's at least sort of like Living Things.

To me, it sounds like the album they'd make during that same era, but if they ditched the heavier vibes from Living Things and went for a lighter sound. I'd also wager this album will probably only appeal to Linkin Park fans who liked Living Things.

But like I said, I'm only 3 tracks + singles deep so... might not think that by the end of it.

I don't hate this so far though, but it's definitely not Linkin Park anymore, so anyone going into it expecting that sound is going to be horribly disappointed.

They put out two albums that sounded the same. They had a choice: stick with nu metal and die with the genre or allow their composition to morph. The trick was doing the latter without losing their core fanbase. Minutes to Midnight successfully allowed them to transition.

The reviews were mixed but all the fans I know loved it. They didn't start feeling isolated until A Thousand Suns which I actually think is super underrated. Kind of wish they stuck with a sound like that instead of the drastic experimentation that was these last couple albums. Still, I'm taking One More Light at face value and I'm not dissatisfied.

Yeah he's sort of right. Hard to measure how much weighed on past success at the time, but MtM sold a ton

Also "What I've Done" being the theme of that Transformers reboot was great for them.

Minutes to Midnight and Living Things are probably my two favorite LP albums. Hybrid Theory and Meteora are great for what they are but are nothing I would just listen to on my own anymore. I'm scared to listen to this new album
