Oct 25, 2017 By Don Drysdale - October 25, 2017 When it comes to hip-hop artists, there are not many better than Eminem. The same can be said when it comes to NFL quarterbacks as Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions is considered by most to be one of the best in the business. So, why not link the two superstars together? That’s exactly what NFL.com did in one of their most recent pieces titled, “Iconic Album Covers Re-Created by NFL Players.” In the piece, Ralph Warner, Grant Pardee, Daniel Greco, and Bryndon Minter (art) took some of the most iconic album covers of all-time and incorporated some of the NFL’s biggest stars. As you can see in the side-by-side photos below, Minter took Eminem’s “The Eminem Show” album cover and replaced the world-renowned hip-hop star with Lions signal-caller and renamed the album, “The Stafford Show.” Here are a couple of excerpts of what Grant Pardee wrote about the Eminem/Stafford comparison. Via NFL.com: Sure, they both rep Detroit, but there’s a deeper connection between the controversial hip-hop artist and the Lions QB. The Eminem Show was Eminem’s third LP in a row that won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album; he’s the first artist to win the award for three consecutive albums. Stafford has thrown for at least 4,200 yards every season in which he’s started at least 16 games, including a 5,000 yard season in 2011; he is only the fourth player in NFL history to accomplish such a feat. But what eludes Stafford is a win in the postseason. He’s only taken the Lions to the playoffs three times in eight years (not counting 2017, his ninth season), and he’s 0-3. Easier said than done, but with Aaron Rodgers out in Green Bay, this might be Stafford’s clearest shot to the postseason yet. Maybe, like Eminem at the BET Hip-Hop Awards a few weeks ago, this will be Stafford’s time to make some noise. Look If you had One shot Or one opportunity To seize everything you ever wanted In one moment Would you capture Or just let it slip? That is a question that Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions have a golden opportunity to answer this season. What will be their answer?
