I'm really not. I'm a big fan of both. I was putting people on Kendrick almost 8 years ago. I'm not going to let one or two great albums of Kendrick's blind me from the lyrical abilities Lupe has and continues to have over 95% of rappers to this day.

This is really true, but at that the same time I can't fault lupe for this too much. There wasn't really a blueprint or majority of rappers that were getting praise for being conscious like we see nowadays.

In terms of discography, Kendrick's is wayyy more solid.

Some of his albums are better then others, but there's not a huge gap in quality like Lupe.

Lupe got amazing albums (Food & Liquor, The Cool & Tetsuo & Youth), mediocre albums (Food and Liquor II) and trash (Lasers, DROGAS Light).

Lyrically, there's no contest though. Lupe a master wordsmith.

True. If lupe came out in the 2010s he'd potentially be on the same level as a Kendrick or a Cole at least

    You're right.

But I don't really count mixtapes in a discography unless...

    a. It's basically an album (IYRTITL, Still Striving, b------)
    b. Their mixtapes are better then there albums (Wayne)

For Kendrick for example...does anyone really count anything before OD or the KLEP?? I don't even mention OD usually when I talk about Kendrick discography, I start with S80. The majority of rappers had decent mixtapes before they blew up with one particular project, and we usually ignore the previous projects.

    GKMC > d--- > The Cool > F&L > Section 80 > Tetsuo & Youth > TPAB

This is just a ranking off the top of my head but kenny wins. Lupe still a solid troll tho

Even if it is, so what? Every artist gets inspired by other artists to do music a certain way. It’s nothing new.

Do you think trap music became popular because rappers fallowed their own style?

The previous point I think was trying to be made was that the concepts were similar, but every time Lupe mentions it he's reaching and/or it's a wild accusation. It's like he's not allowed to see or speak on his art inspiring or distilled into someone else that proceeds him.

Lupe dropped two great albums and then fell off catastrophically, Kendrick already passed him
