Aug 1, 2020 I've got a 1 year old kid and have really let myself go. That said, I'm still in pretty decent shape. I have a set of adjustable dumbbells and almost no time to work on my body. That said, I'd like to get the most b--- for my buck. If I were to put in 10 minutes a day on strength training only, what would you recommend as a plan. Obviously I'm not going to get shredded with 10 minutes and a set of dumbbells, but what's the best I can do right now? The goal is to increase my muscle mass as much as possible (or at least maintain what currently exists), and evenly through each part of my body. Would it even be worth it with my current resources? I used to lift a fair amount and am very familiar with different lifts/terminology.
Oct 4, 2020 Super upset> Havent been able to work out since july.. august. Really f----- my back? hip? up initially it was lower left back pin pointed pain, it has since become hip pain that can sometime go down my leg to my knee> But its not sciatica. Cant be. my BF had that and had to have surgery for it. I'm so f---ing pissed off though. The doctor I went to told me that "i'm not a big strong person so I shouldn't do weights" at all. Only cardio. @M Solo please confirm my belief that that is bs. I injured myself due to bad form. By not doing weights in itself. pretty sure I have APT so it wuld make sense I have bad form as a basic. I'm just really f---ing pissed at this doctor. No recommendations as to when i should be getting better, no guidance. Just - dont do weights
Oct 14, 2020 There is nothing inherently dangerous about weight training even though it's something I've heard from every general practioner I've ever seen.
Nov 2, 2020 This is all super informative, preciate this thread I’ve been having p bad stomach issues since roughly December 2018, basically not being able to hold as much food as I used to and getting huge build ups of stomach acid I have to vomit out (sometimes going days w/o, sometimes 3/4 times a day) I’m sure a portion of that has to do with my alcohol and drug intake, and I just ate like absolute dog s--- for the first 22 years of my life basically lmao so I know years of Cheetos and nacho cheese for lunch have prob corroded my insides, but do u have any recs on easily obtainable foods that aren’t too acidic, or otherwise do something to balance that out? I’ve been eating apples and grapes in the morning and finding that my heartburn virtually disappears for the first part of the day as long as I stick to that and water, and my stomach feels a lot more settled. Idk the exact process behind that happening so idk which foods I should look into incorporating, not sure if this is too vague to be properly answered but either way thanks for the info @M Solo
Nov 2, 2020 If your back is still bothering you. I would look up Dr Stuart McGill's work. He is an expert on back injuries. Need to avoid postures from which it hurts not only in the gym but everyday life. Use hips instead of back, hip mobilty. Basically it is all in the hips
Nov 2, 2020 feel better man. def recommend limiting all that junk, whether its what u put in ur belly, or up ur nose ayyy but srsly be well, treat ur body like a temple
Nov 2, 2020 no I’m looking into the food allergy test rn actually, saw a gastro dr earlier this year then kinda fell off on following up cuz of covid. Got an ultrasound and they didn’t see anything, also turns out my s--- f---in practice I go to was prescribing me discontinued stomach meds that cause cancer anyways I have to do some blood work before I can get a camera put down my throat, which I put off for way too long cuz I’m a puss absolutely lol it’s hard to phase out fast food entirely as I’m still living w my folks and relying on them sometimes for food and that’s what they want, but when it comes to my personal choices I been eating fruits for breakfast and a lot more salads/pasta/grains and a lot less chips n s---. I’m still a god d--- soda addict tho I need to chill on that as for all the other s---, absolutely lol. don’t wanna sit here and break down every habit I’ve had/have but I’ve kicked a lot of unnecessary stuff and am, at the very least, more mindful and conscious of what goes on my body
Nov 2, 2020 my biggest advice to u irl man: start ur day off right. go for a run, eat right early imo, then u vibe off that feeling most of the morning/day. no more sodas, u gain so much weight from it without realizing it. u do those two things, eat some greens i rly believe u will be on the right path ayyy ily
Nov 2, 2020 I’m doing like an addict and tapering off sodas lol, but h--- yeah that’s all solid advice, the waking up early and running is something I’ve been doing a lot lately, either that or just driving up to the park early to read a book. s--- just makes the day hit different
Sep 28, 2021 Bumping this so we can all get back in shape. Currently doing Arnold’s Golden Six (full body) workout the last couple months. I was doing upper/lower split 6 days a week but took a break after vacation and trying to get back at it. @M Solo what do you think of this workout to get back into the swing of things? I alternate squats and deadlifts every other lift day.
Sep 29, 2021 I've turned into a fat s--- over the last 9 months. I need to sort this out. I keep telling myself to do something about it and then I just don't. Seriously lacking motivation. It's not like I don't know the benefits, I lost 4 stone/25 kilos in 2018 so I know the art of the possible. I just can't get going right now.
Sep 30, 2021 I cycle 60-100km a week. And fairly active at work. So day-to-day cardio isn't too much of the issue. I just can't get myself out of this bad eating funk.
