Dec 16, 2017 sadly, this interlude has been the most listened to track on the album for me so far... it's perfect. anybody know if there's a longer version of this track out there? sounds like it was taken from an old sampling (unless that was the full sample)
Dec 16, 2017 Album has a few good songs but this is Eminem’s worst produced album. This could’ve been better because lyrically he is a beast but too much pop for me
Dec 17, 2017 This is what's frustrating to me. Back in the day, eminem would, more often than not, pick beats that were accessible to most of his listeners. And even when people didn't like a particular beat, it usually wasn't enough to make the song unlistenable. But for years now, he's been choosing very divisive beats and they often force the listener into a love it or hate it situation. Or more accurately, a "can listen" or "can't listen" situation. Most of Revival seems to be filled with this dilemma. And heat is the perfect example. I literally cannot stand that beat (or hook) but I absolutely love the verses. But since I find the beat so painfully bad and annoying, I can't even pretend to enjoy the song. It's an automatic skip. This is how I feel for most of the tracks on revival. It's unfortunate too because he has a lot to say on this album. Oh well.
Dec 17, 2017 I just read the lyrics to heat and I am absolutely baffled as to how you “love” them. Those are easily some of the worst lyrics of his career, I’m cringing so hard. I genuinely want to know why you like them.
Dec 17, 2017 That's a good catch and question. "Love" is definitely the wrong word. I certainly don't think they're legendary or anything like that. I just read them as well and you're not wrong, they look embarrassing on paper. But each verse has a few quotables I think I could enjoy if they were over a different beat, especially on an album with very few songs I like. Basically, each verse has a section where he's just being a scumbag and saying ignorant s--- with double and triple entendres. I don't want a full album of s--- like this, but I don't mind the random song or two where he says s--- like this. Don't get me wrong, if this song never got released I would not feel like I missed out lol. When the album dropped (as has been the case since Encore), I was trying to find the few songs I like. I ended up with 3 songs I will listen to, mixed in with everything else in my music library (Believe, Castle, and Arose if you're curious. I also liked the cranberries sample in in your head but that 2nd verse is kind of annoying how he rhymes). Out of all the bs rock beats on revival, Heat was the only one I thought had any redeemable characteristics. I thought the lyrics were kind of funny and he flows pretty normal, hence me using it in my comment about wishing he chose better beats. The verses are certainly forgettable but my larger issue is with the beat selection, not the lyrics. But anyways, since you asked, I liked these parts: Verse 1: Grab you by the (meow), hope it's not a problem in fact About the only thing I agree on with Donald is that So when I put this palm on your cat Don't snap, it's supposed to be grabbed Why do you think they call it a snatch? Verse 2: Maybe she wants to keep me company But f--- the Pepe le pew s--- "Ain't steppin' to you, b----," I say to myself Plus she's bumpin' my music, ain't chasin' no tail Like a skunk in heat I could sweat her, to some degree But f--- it, I'm the male, let her come to me Verse 3: Just let me rest my head between that set of D's While I shred MC's, like cheddar cheese That's just the thoroughbred me in me, ain't a better breed My dog thinks so too, look at my predigree Ma, the world is what I think of you I think you're divine, so I might swing on you I'm just kidding girl, I wouldn't lift a finger to Unless it's the middle one, to finger you
Dec 22, 2017 Sorry guys I've been really busy. And.... I think my opinion might be changing. I'll elaborate when I continue my review. @Koolo
