Mar 14, 2016 I disagree. There is a very clear a distinct drop-off after Cruel Summer. Kanye stopped making music, but instead hired world class beatmakers to produce noise. He turned his fans into a social experiment. Every night he goes home and laughs at all of us as he plays mind games with us. I only included WTT because working with Jay spiked his popularity even more. n----s in Paris was a World-Class b-----r and your club wasn't s--- that year if you weren't bumping it.
Mar 14, 2016 Oh I'm not disputing how big NIP was I just really don't like the song at all. I do kind of agree with the social experiment line too.
Mar 15, 2016 The quality of Cruel Summer probably defined the effort he put into his label at the time, Kanye looks back now wishing he had put more time in it. Yeezus though is a masterpiece, I found it hard to accept but it tops a lot of his previous songs and projects. Each to their own I guess.
Mar 15, 2016 A lot of people I know didn't like it when it came out. I had that album on repeat for a while.
Mar 15, 2016 Is it though? I always thought the majority opinion was that it was really good. I'm surprised at the amount of people ITT who have it in the lower tier of his discography.
Mar 15, 2016 It's certainly underrated by a lot of people. Like I mentioned in an earlier post most people I know wwere like "Eh, It's alright. Disappointed in it tbh." and never spoke about it again. Even when I mentioned to give it a few more listens their opinion never changed.
Mar 16, 2016 I recall the community being pretty split when WTT came out, but it also got a lot of new fans into Kanye. It was a big change from the theme and sound Kanye had in MBDTF. Everyone liked NIP, but people were concerned what direction Ye was gonna go. MBDTF has this "fine beauty" to it that Kanye has since uglified and darkened. It was generally lyrically less interesting than MBDTF as well imho. WTT to me is more known as "Ye Reviving Jay's Career" whereas MBDTF was it's own whole masterpiece that brought you into another world sonically.
Mar 20, 2016 when u just tryina be unfunnily funny by saying "ill, legal" and people just ain't having it
Mar 20, 2016 idk about peak artistically, but i definitely miss the days when kanye was in the headlines for his music and only his music. 2011 was my first semester of college and wtt was absolutely the soundtrack to it.
Mar 22, 2016 its cuz he was around jay and either jay wouldnt let him put out bs or he was tryin to keep up/outshine him
