Oct 26, 2018 Hot take: Without Warning and Droptopwop have the best Metro Boomin' production ever. I remember listening to Without Warning and Metro's beats on Rodeo, and I fell in love with a subgenre that I never thought would like.
Oct 26, 2018 Yeah thats true if anyone defined this decade’s sound its Lex Luger. Metro definitely built off that. also SpaceGhostPurpp comes to mind from the earlier 2010s. even though he’s pretty much forgotten now. But he influenced a lot of the sound today. Exactly this. I’m curious to see where the ‘soundcloud-sound’ goes next, its already taking off quickly. And i think you can add Pierre Bourne to the brocoli/yachty mix too, he’s bound to blow even bigger than he is now. The most interesting thing about this for me is how these sounds start melding together over time and eventually evolve into entirely new styles. Kendrick’s d--- was one of the best recent examples i think but you can hear all these different elements coming together all over the place these days.it feels like theres some kind of big shift on the horizon, post-trap
Oct 26, 2018 Was the exact same for me back when Days Before Rodeo and Monster dropped. What do you think of DS2 by the way?
Oct 26, 2018 @Sav Stanfield finally behind a computer and not suffering on mobile lol, lemme contribute the response this conversation merits I'm a huge proponent of SPG, watching the evolution of Raider Klan to --- and so on more or less shaped the course of hip-hop for years to come. People only started figuring out about SpaceGhost's esoteric production in recent times, he had his issues and that beef with A$AP Mob didn't help but undeniably influential. h--- yeah Pierre is a beast! I honestly love what it's become and how it's allowed a huge refresh of the entire genre since we only had established stars monopolizing everything in the early part of this decade and now it seems every other month there's a new wave and another burgeoning artist that's creating something different, I never was a doom and gloom guy when it comes to the state of rap but it's in such a fascinating place right now! Another example I was thinking was how influential Yeezus has been with the combination of cacophonous industrial (yup Death Grips) and the mix of EDM Trap, Reggae and so on--it's like a map of where a lot of popular music was in 2013 and where it has become now.
Oct 27, 2018 Another classic album. 8.2/10 There are some so so tracks that drag it down but overall, s----s fire. Highs are incredible. I prefer EVOL more since bears sound more crazier on that album. But it's close.
Oct 27, 2018 Clams Casino is by far the best producers of the 2010's Listening to the I'm God instrumental is the most orgasmic experience ever.
Oct 31, 2018 I can already feel those 808's perfectly mixed with kicks and snares and some catchy melodies
