Mar 15, 2023 Agree w @Marsh that x sucks. But Smile was fine, just a s-----y ending but rest was dope
Mar 15, 2023 X was alright. My first play, I fell asleep no cos of the movie though. So I Rewatched and its ight. Marsh just got weird taste. How can one think Barbarian is terrible? Not me sir
Mar 16, 2023 The beginning was good, second half s----d imo. I also thought Everything was dumb and look at all the great reviews and Oscars it got lol even one for Sausage Fingers so idk
Mar 16, 2023 Haven't seen Barbarian yet. Not that much 2022 horrors at all even lol I guess, also the ranking Scream 5 Halloween Ends / Smile X Maybe forgetting some
Mar 16, 2023 Everything Everywhere is way more than it's jokes and has a lot of well acted heartfelt writing about immigrant parents and commentary on nihilism but go off king
Mar 17, 2023 This is not a horror movie so f--- off you 2!! Jk. But, imo a good movie that touches on certain subjects... doesn't have to make it an enjoyable horror movie. I mean it can also be too much you know what I mean? Like US, its about nature vs nurture mostly. But aside from its first half our, I think its more lame and stupid than horror or scary. Despite it having a good message. Same with Midsommer... love the landscapes, and its a beautiful movie in a way. But going in expecting a horror... it fails. Btw about horror and immigrants, have you seen His House? Its a story about a couple from Sudan seeking refuge in England. Its a perfect balance of how they are treated by the system... while also being creepy as f---. Its on Netflix, and a gem tbh. Gonna try to watch Barbarian anytime soon... and, yes, @BIGFOOT haven't forgotten....
Mar 17, 2023 Looking forward to Evil Dead Rise. Has gotten very good reviews and perfect scores in some reviews, so hopefully that’s a good sign that a good horror is finally on its way. Been a long a--- time since there has been one.
Mar 17, 2023 @BIGFOOT I watched Smile finally. It was actually pretty good. It definitely wasn’t as stupid as the trailers made it look. My only complaint is that the cat’s name was Mustache… that’s just too horrific, even for a horror movie… Spoiler I love how the movie was about confronting and breaking the cycle of generational trauma. That’s a really interesting and unique topic for a horror movie to tackle, especially since facing generational trauma really is a scary thing to go through. I could kinda tell that that’s what it was gonna be about pretty early on in the movie, but it was still entertaining to see how it would all unfold. I see the evil “smile” force as the representation of trauma/mental illness and how that can affect other people and be passed onto other people. Dealing with trauma and other issues in the mind isn’t an easy thing to do and isn’t something people always succeed at. At the end, Rose fails to beat it, and instead passes it onto another person just like her mother did to her, thus continuing the cycle. It’s beautifully horrifying and realistic honestly.
Mar 17, 2023 Glad you liked it bruh and let this be a lesson to never trust @Marsh judgement LOL Yeah the mental health theory is spot on imo.
Mar 17, 2023 I haven't seen that movie, sound interesting though! And I agree with your sentiment about movies with a message and it doesn't translate to a good film or can come off pretentious but I'm willing to defend a movie that made me genuinely emotional for 40mins straight lmaooo
