Dec 24, 2024 I need to play catch up on most horror movies that came out this year due to personal stuff getting in the way so I guess by default it'd be Alien: Romulus until further notice. I also watched Mad God which idk if it'd be considered horror but it's incredibly uncomfortable and I liked it a lot
Dec 24, 2024 Just off 2024 releases, objectively The Substance is the best horror film to release this year. Subjectively, Terrifier 3 was my favorite horror release this year. Smile 2 is in the top 3 with Substance and Terrifier
Dec 24, 2024 We’ll see if Nosferatu shakes things up when I see it Sunday, but as of now my horror 2024 ranking (where I try to be a good mix of subjective and objective) goes as: The Substance (9/10) Terrifier 3 (9/10) Smile 2 (9/10) Longlegs (9/10) Immaculate (9/10) Lisa Frankenstein (8/10) Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (8/10) MaXXXine (8/10) Abigail (8/10) Speak No Evil (8/10) The First Omen (8/10) Cuckoo (7/10) Trap (7/10) Stream (7/10) In A Violent Nature (7/10) A Quiet Place: Day One (6/10) Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey II (6/10) Tarot (4/10) Imaginary (4/10) Night Swim (2/10) Not too shabby of a year for horror! Still a few that I missed that I need to check out
Dec 24, 2024 The Substance, Smile 2, Stopmotion, and Nosferatu are definitely the ones at the top of my list to watch from this year. In terms of non horror I'm fiending to watch The Wild Robot and Anora
Dec 24, 2024 There's no such thing as complete objectivity in art bro. Don't let critic nerds tell you there is I haven't seen the Substance btw heard its pretty gross? Not a fan of body horror tbh.
Dec 24, 2024 Longlegs really good? Heard a lot of sounds its overrated and not scary. Also... I disliked X.. are maxxine and pearl (?) similar?
Dec 24, 2024 Sure hope they are not gonna f--- this up. A new one everytime is fine but already planning 3 is a risk. They might wanna do some lame s--- that ruins the magic of the first 6.
Dec 24, 2024 It’s gross but not as gross as people set it up to be. It’s just really good body horror. Everyone was like “the last 30 mins are so crazy and disgusting” but I feel like i saw worse in horror this year, not even including Terrifier All 3 movies are pretty different from each other, you’d probably like Pearl the best out of all of them. I liked Maxxxine way more than the general public did
Dec 24, 2024 Might give TS a chance then. Seen good reviews despite people calling it gross lol. Aight, I just thought X was very weird, not scary and the old people stuff was just disgusting to me lmao. So overrated imo. Is Pearl more horror?
Dec 24, 2024 Worst character ever in the Halloween franchise (this version, the kid and Paul Rudd did fine) along with that cornball played by Busta cringe lmao
Dec 24, 2024 I hope so. 6 movies in all good hope they are not gonna do some supernatural bs, different timelines or bring back dead people
Dec 24, 2024 Pearl and Maxxxine are both less sexual than X, Pearl feels more horror and Maxxxine feels like a crime movie
