Oct 19, 2023 Next ones I watched: Scream 4 There is a lot of discussion about whats the best horror franchise. Scream has 6 movies and still going strong! Does Scream 4 bring that much new? Maybe not. But the franchise always keeps up with the times, trends and keeps it fresh that way. I still think its stupid they ignored part 3, but I enjoyed this movie a lot. The last time the OG leads were the actual leads, even if they still returned. The killer reveal was cool and I liked the cast. 7.8/10 Freddy vs Jason Its still amazing how they brought these 2 world together and not f--- it up. Its starts as an Elmstreet movie, ends as a Friday 13th movie, and a good combination in between. The cast is great and both Freddy and Jason are dope. Good kills, a lot of humour and even though its never really scary, its fun for the whole movie. Not sure if I think its better than Scream 4, but this movie holds a special place to me so I'm gonna say 8/10
Oct 19, 2023 Another Mike Myers special. Says not sure if Fvsj is as good or better than S4 and then goes and rates it higher later in the sentence LOL
Oct 20, 2023 You silly man. The ratings I give are personal: how much I like them. So I mean maybe S4 is a 'better' movie but to me FvsJ has so much nostalgia I like it more.
Oct 23, 2023 Last weekend I watched: The Ring One of the best and most unique ideas (and yes I know its a remake of Ringu, I meant the OG idea of course). The story is really creepy: the legend about the tape and also what it eventually is about is really cool. Some very spooky moments and the acting is great too. It does turn into a mystery movie more than horror at one point, but the ending is dope. I love the sequel as well, but yeah I'm not getting tired watching this every year. 8/10 Hellfest If you're a serial killer and want to blend in, besides doing ur thing on Halloween, visiting a horror theme park is very easy. Nobody thinks the kills are real until its too late and for the makers of the movie its so d--- easy to insert jump scares: literally use the ones in the haunted houses lol. There isn't much of a story, especially not from the killer, but its a fun ride. Some good kills, love the lead actress and yeah the horror theme park setting is nice to watch around Halloween. Decent slasher. 6,8/10 The Exorcist Not sure what to say really, it starts a little slow maybe but the fact that Regans behaviour slowly turns bad, and worse, is imo more effective than how quickly they made the girls in Believer turn evil. Linda does such a good job as a kid here and there are some scenes that will forever be legendary. The exorcism is way more serious (and not so f---ing corny as in Believer) and its for some reason way more realistic. Karras' backstory is also nice. Classic for a reason. 9/10 Exorcist III I already said that, despite all the hate, I liked part 2. This one sort of ignores it, but also doesn't really deny its excistence. Its a completely different movie and its only connected through Karras and the demon. I really like this one too, but I think its strange that part 2 got so much s---, while this story is also very weird. The fact that the demon brought some serial killers soul into Karras' body that can leave and return whenever it wants is kinda stupid. However the execution is really cool. The chemistry between the priest and detective is funny. And the scenes with (both) Brad Dourif -chucky voice- and Jason Miller are really intense. The sudden appearance of the new priest is kinda weird but I understand they brought him in just because the movie needed an exorcism to live up to its name. Glad Karras eventually found peace and I gotta say it has some really creepy scenes despite it not feeling like a horror movie the whole time. 7.5/10 Scream 1 Watching these in strange order: 2,3,4 and now part 1. Like I said earlier 6 movies in and still a perfect-ish score. This one is still strong, with a strong cast and even though its very self aware, the meta stuff isn't as present as in its sequels. Dewey is such a doofus in here lol, he does get more serious in the later movies. And yeah I always forget that its actually Gale that stops Billy Loomis (even if Sid has the final shot). Still, in the end we now know Billy was just a puppet. 8.5/10
Oct 24, 2023 Been going through a lot this month so I haven’t really been able to get into the Halloween spirit. In fact, I keep forgetting it’s even spooky season. At least I still have some time left! Gonna try to get in the mood and watch some horror movies within the next week. I’m feeling Scream
Oct 24, 2023 Watched FvsJ at the movies when I was a youngin, rewatched it at home last year. Liked it.
Oct 24, 2023 I've been seeing some candy and costumes but Halloween isn't a thing here, we should just go from Summer stuff to Christmas stuff outside of America
Oct 25, 2023 The pandemic basically killed most of Halloween where I'm at, basically no one is outside anymore on my street and there's d--- near no decorations it makes me so sad lol
Oct 25, 2023 (Twitter thread of the cast) Super excited that Mike Flanagan is adapting another Stephen King story after Doctor Sleep, one of the most absolutely stacked casts I've seen in a minute! Especially for an indie film.
Oct 25, 2023 @Marsh I'm about halfway through House of Usher so far and think it's pretty good, it's like a more competent American Horror Story season with better writing that actually has something to say lol. Seems to be enhanced by a rewatch and knowing the Edgar Allan Poe stories it's adapting. I do think it's a bit overrated as far as his shows go but I do think it's funny and appreciate the change in his usual tone, so far it's sitting comfortably at 3rd place for me although I need to give Bly Manor a rewatch so it might be recency bias. If I were to rank his movies as well the entire list would be different but currently it's: Hill House/Midnight Mass >>>>>> Usher >>>>>> Bly Manor (Will update if thoughts change) Haven't even watched Midnight Club but would've been more compelled to if it didn't get cancelled.
Oct 26, 2023 Bly has Victoria. One of my issues with Usher is that no one is likeable lol kinda same issue I have with Gen V. I don’t care about any of them at all.
Oct 26, 2023 I always confuse Scream and Scary Movie Which one is the one where someone sticks his d-ck through the bathroom stall into the person's ear? Come to think of it, it might've been scary movie doing a parody of Scream... Either way, might have to go back and watch the Scream franchise. I've probably seen one or two movies but can't recall anything. The Scary Movies have definitely been more memorable.
