I’ll get over it as my life continues to get better and I’ll be able to enjoy nostalgia again. But yeah, creativity is key. Hopefully they do some more creative things with the Halloween franchise in the future. I think a TV show, if done right, could be interesting.

Nah I think with Myers dead they should leave it alone for now. Maybe in a decade or so.
Rather have them make new horror movies with halloween as the main theme. Like trick r treat, halloween 3 did as well.

No idea what to do with this franchise now other than make another new timeline lol

New Scream (hello friend nostalgia) and Smile 2, Strangers chapter 2 are movies I look forward to now.

Speaking of creativity without nostalgia, have u checked Late night w devil yet?

Btw @Ripper Roo regardless of your or my opinion, it is obvious that nostalgia usually wins.
The halloween franchise is a good example of new ideas being smacked down because fans want the same thing again (myers). Not saying its bad or good just an observation

Well obviously these companies keep doing the nostalgia bait because people keep eating it up. They will keep doing whatever sells.

100% but like I said don't think its always a bad thing. Trying something new for the sake of being progressive can backfire as well.

Most progressivism in media is performative anyway just like a lot of s--- on social media. A lot of these people don’t actually care about the s--- that they claim to

Why is nostalgia unhealthy? The only thing that's unhealthy is tiktok and other social media apps

90s-early 2000s "nostalgia" is big right now because the main consumers(people who are buying s--- and have money) are in their late 20s -30s and wish we could go back to those times because the world was a h--- of a lot better and less moronic lol

Eventually in 15-20 years it'll be the years we are in now that everyone will miss...dunno how or why though lol

I think if nostalgia gets in the way of trying something new (like, what happened with Halloween 3 when people trashed it because they wanted Myers) its not always good imo.

But in general I'm nostalgic as f--- and love 90's movies throwbacks, new halloween trilogy and... other than movies; TDOSS which is nostalgia pure form lol

I didn’t say nostalgia is unhealthy. There’s nothing wrong with some nostalgia here and there. I said people’s obsession with nostalgia is unhealthy. Some people get way too into it and constantly think/talk about the past rather than focusing on the present or future while making no progress in their life and constantly bitching about how things used to be better which ends up making it a miserable experience to be around them. This isn’t even about movies for me, this is about life in general.
You just described the problem. Everybody talks about the “golden years” not realizing the golden years could be right now if they actually took the steps to improve their lives. I’m speaking directly from my experience… this was one of the best years I’ve had in a while because I finally started taking steps to improve myself and my life. I dug myself out of h--- and lately I’ve been seeing the fruits of my labor.

I do think @Ripper Roo making progress in life instead of holding on to toxic things because it feels familiar/safe is a totally different level of importance than liking movies or music that taps into that old school feeling though. Aside from movies/music I actually do agree we should try to improve ourselfs. But again, not for the sake of progression, is has to actually make it better imo.

Thanks for seeing my point bro. Yeah this is more to me than just movies and music. Trust me, this isn’t just for the sake of progression to me. I actually have been getting better. I started new treatment for my depression not too long ago. I’ve been smiling and laughing a lot more, I’ve finally been able to focus on things, and I’ve been getting better at everything I do in life. Even my relationships are starting to improve

I had a feeling there was more to your posts about this subject than a Halloween movie! Good to hear bro.

And yeah, keep things that give you positive energy and cut off s--- that only costs energy (if its possible of course and to an extent). God I sounds so Hallmark lmao.

Tomorrow ending the Halloween era for 2024 but now first to Amsterdam!

It's kinda hypocritical for me to say this as a fan of the things I'm a fan of but I find nostalgia to be detrimental to most kinds of art, an over reliance on it in particular.

I personally thing nostalgia being the primary way to sell product is gross and manipulative, there's nothing wrong with the concept of making something nostalgic in specific contexts (or just having the vibe of something from that era, like how Terrifer feels like an 80s movie series). This ties into a problem with most forms of media but I can go on a diatribe about it's relation to the film industry that I'm gonna save you from, the pendulum always swings back though and I see people getting more hungry for more creative led art instead of something that feels boardroom mandated so I have some hope!

    Halloween II

The movie JC was forced to make after the succes of the first one. I think its funny people are trashing Kills and Ends, but this one seems to be getting so much praise. And yes, there are definitely some great things.
The Halloween theme, imo, is the best from all movies. Its so haunting. Michael is still creeping, the ending is great. But people were mad that Laurie got sidelined in Kills... well, here she is too until the last 15 minutes or so.
I like the first half hour when Michael is walking the streets of Haddonfield, and some of the kills and creeps were very dope.
But..... I don't like or care about the s--- at the hospital at all lol. For what it is, its still a good movie but 'the only movie close to the original' h--- no. The Halloween element isn't that much present either. Its okay, and like I said the score is amazing, but I even think Kills is a lot more enjoyable than this. The only real 'story' here is the twist that Laurie is Michaels sister, other than that it's just a sequel because he had to. Halloween 4, 2018, Kills are all more enjoyable to me. But Michael is great as well so I sure put it above the other half of the franchise. If it wasn't for the score though probably a little lower. 6.7/10
