The scene where the kid bangs his head against the closet door gave me chills, same as some others.

Yes, Annabelle. The other prequel comes later this year (Conjuring 2)

I used to be a huge horror fan as a kid. I was obsessed with the classics like Halloween, Childs Play, Elm Street etc and it kind of ends with those. There hasn't been a truly good or even decent horror movie in so long (Evil Dead remake being in that small percentage of good horror movies) it seems like ever since Paranormal Activity and the success that seen people got lazy. Now every horror movie since then is the same paranormal jump scare bs. That's one thing I like about Rob Zombie at least his films like the Devils Rejects are realistic. I'm more scared of people than I am f---ing ghost lol and even now looking back on the classic horror movies even those seem kind of dated and dull smh. The only horror movie worth considering a classic to me is The Shinning (ironic right?)

    2. Drag Me To h--- (2009)

This movie is creepy as.. h---. A pretty original story, unlike most haunted house stories (of course some elements are similar). 2 moments that are supposed to be scary turn out goofy and unintentionally funny but other than that, what a fantastic movie. Great combination of tenstion and jump scares. I know @csw621 shares this opinion

I'm really fond of this movie. it doesn't take itself overly seriously and that actually helps it to be pretty scary. yeah there are a couple crine moments, like "ya old b----!" and the vaudevillian dancing at the end. however it is definitely very original. justin long is always charming and the gypsy lady was creepy af. seeing the dude from inception is also now kind of a cool novelty even though he can't act for s---. man, I remember seeing this the week after relapse came out and it was just a very warm fuzzy time so I have great memories of this film. the scene where all u hear is the demon's footsteps still haunts my 3am pee run every once in a while...

The old woman was more scary than the lamia tbh lol. The parking lot scene, shitt.. And yeah, during that seance, the goat and that other dude were supposed to be scary, but it was lame and more funny. The man who helped her through the movie (the paranormal guy) was terrible tho and when he tried to be sincere I couldn't help but laugh. But yeah definitely a top 10 horror movie for me

good points. yeah man that scene in the car... whew. the prologue was pretty well done too, it had sort of an artsy, otherworldly, old timey kinda feel

top 10 modern horror film for me for sure

and yeah lol that guy's name is dileep rao, he was in avatar too. honestly he's usually more of a plot device than a character

also, I used to think goats were scary till that em track G.O.A.T. leaked

    thanks a lot @Koolo

Yeah I forgot, has been a few years since I last saw it. Need to rewatch, but also want to see Conjuring again, with part 2 coming out soon. From what I've seen it has a great rating (certified fresh on rottentomatoes) so high expectations. And then there are It Follows & The Boy waiting on my usb to watch lol

you're due for a rewatch bro

haven't seen the other two yet, patrick wilson was fantastic in the conjuring though. I first saw him in watchmen and was really impressed with where he took the night owl character. conjuring 1 was pretty intense and has a very well written, (mostly) true story. 2 should be great, prolly gonna catch it soon. I think it's already out

Agree, he is also great in Insidious (though my favorite is Part 3 where he's not in). And yeah, Conjuring is so intense. I wanted to have it as my nr 2 but I placed DMTH above it because it was more original and Conjuring is just 'another' haunted house movie. But it is the best haunted house movie for me and so tense.. the part where the boy bangs his head against the closet made my skin crawl
