mma fighters make more money than boxers at the lower levels, but if you take the top attractions of each sport, the top guys at boxing make more than the top at MMA.

Jones made 500k against cormier, in comparison Brandon Rios (by no means a top fighter, at all) made 850k against Alvarado 3. I can pull up more examples if necessary.

    1) Jones' payout was significantly higher due to PPV points not included in that figure.
    2) Boxing is huge in Hispanic countries. Partly why it's more lucrative at higher levels.
    3) Nobody becomes a fighter for their confidence in its steady income.

    1) I'm not talking about PPV revenue. I'm strictly talking about their basic purses.
    2) Brandon Rios, a f---ing brawler, a good 3 levels below the elite fighters at welterweight, makes more than the top fighters in MMA.
    3) Boxing is huge throughout the whole world. USA, Canada, UK, etc.
    4) Canelo Alvarez made 1.25 mil vs Alfredo Angulo. Again, far from the top boxer in the world right now.

The disclosed payouts in the UFC are pretty irrelevant lol, especially for the champs.

But ya you look at the undercards for some of these boxing shows and the guys make peanuts and they only put on like 5-6 fights total. UFC is putting on 11-12 fights.

edit: the boxing hardos are the worst. Why the f--- wouldnt you be talking about PPV Revenues? because it doesnt help your point? oh ok.

Keith Thurman's purse vs Robert Guerrero- 1.5 mil
Adrien Broner's purse vs John Molina - 1.25 Mil

Again - these are guys who are below the titans of the sport, still easily make more than MMA fighters who are of comparable level.

I am not talking about PPV revenue because Brandon Rios wasn't on PPV and his basic purse EASILY rapes Jon Jones' basic purse, who is the top fighter in the UFC right now.

Wanna talk about PPV revenue? Why the f*ck don't you talk about how Floyd Mayweather vs Canelo generated $150 million in revenue from 2.2 million pay-per-view buys.

Hmu when ufc does that kind of numbers.

MMA is barely a decade old in the mainstream. Boxing has been popular for the greater part of the past century. Anyway, I don't think any salary is worth getting a jab-induced lobotomy over the span of your career. No clue why you're so fixated on salaries in the first place. @Lamont

That's true. it's still a young sport, and that's why boxing rapes it in numbers ATM.

we'll see about that. i tend to think that MMA hit it's peak in popularity when liddell, couture, tito, rashad and rampage jackson were around.

When the top draw in UFC is a women in Ronda Rousey, imo the sport is kind of in trouble. Jones is also a big draw also, and Chris Weidman, but i still think they are kind of lacking big stars like they did years ago.

i don't buy that s--- about boxing dying & MMA taking over. The past couple weeks, boxing generated a lot of viewers on public TV with Keith Thurman, Broner and porter, I think new stars will emerge when Pacquiao and Mayweather retire also.

Nobody is arguing about Mayweather/Canelo or the top guys yes thats clearly not comparable. Trying to act like Brandon Rios makes more then Jones is embarrassing though. Saying Brandon Rios wasnt on PPV? no s--- hes not a PPV caliber fighter lol.

Again boxing does what 5-6 PPV's a year? UFC does 13. Boxing also has like 6 fights a card with the bottom guys getting hundreds of dollars to show up. While the UFC does 12 fights on a card with the minimum being 8k show/8k win.

If you're not at the very top in boxing or top 5 of your division your better off in the UFC, they give out 4-50K bonuses that anyone on a card can earn whether thats a PPV, Fox, FS1 or Fight Pass show. Fight Pass shows are usually European/Asian card that are super top heavy like a boxing show, so you could be a regional cat and end up with 50K for getting an impressive KO.

Like I f---ing told you... If you look at their BASIC PURSES, Rios made 850K, Jones made 500K. Now that is something that you have to deal with, that a f*cking slugger like Rios makes more than Jones, who is one of the biggest in UFC right now. Why bring in PPV revenue when Rios isn't a PPV guy? Compare Jones to another PPV guy in boxing, you will see that Jones falls short! as does Rousey!

Again, the PPVs that boxing does end up performing a lot better than the UFC PPvs.

That's not really true though because most boxers wouldn't really succeed in the UFC. as you know MMA takes more than punching. So if you are a boxer, stay in your lane.

Even Abner Mares, who is far from a top guy, made 500K last week fighting a bum. Most UFC fighters do not make that amount.

Broner and Guerrero both made over 1.2 million.. Mares made 500,000.... A stacked UFC complete card doesn't make half that..... Guys you wouldn't recognize in the streets that are boxers make more then the super stars in the Ufc. Danny Garcia wouldn't get out of bed for what Jon Jones or Ronda Rousey make per fight....

The ratings of boxings first NBC show didnt come close to the first UFC show on FOX. We'll be able to tell after 2-3 shows because in all likelihood the numbers will go down and not up. First show was meant to blow everyone away like the UFC did putting the HW title on the line.
