Jun 19, 2018its honestly pretty embarrassing to even admit i was like this at a time but i was one of those "real rap" / "f--- mumble rap" fa----s who never ventured into new artists, but in late 2016 --- singlehandedly changed my opinion and opened me up to new s--- because i was in the worst place of my life at the time and i ended up stumbling upon a 30 min sad xxxtentacion mix on youtube, it was so new to me sonically and lyrically but i could relate with everything he was saying and it really made a change because i ended up not killing myself that winter (even after having my suicide note done and written)
i dont wanna hear any s---, this dude helped so many people (way more than he hurt) and ill cherish that sad mix and his last two albums for the rest of my life, this has also inspired me to get off my a--- and accomplish my dreams, he was a few months younger than me and i admire how much work he was able to put in at such a young age

3. Love Me Forever
Young Thug is his own worst enemy. He is the sole reason his rapping is as experimental and otherworldly as it is, but he needs a Tumay in his circle to focus his creativity. Young Thug has adhd I swear -- and this is just based on his own words. He hops from topic to topic within a 16 bar verse, he keeps a studio near him where ever he goes so that he can translate new thoughts/words/phrases into songs at the drop of a hat, he forms alliances with random artists every single day. He has a tape with Post Malone. A Tape with Fetty Wap. A tape with the Migos. A tape with Metro.
Basically, he loves hard and fast. Even if it isn't always in his benefit. And that's probably what happened when Thug heard a chopped & screwed song one day and proceeded to have his 1 and only misstep in the past year or so: he asked Tumay to make Love Me sound like the song he heard...and fans have been pulling their hair out about it ever since.
At one point, I even heard he said to slow it down so we could hear/understand every word -- thats just how much he liked Love Me. Great intentions, I guess, but man how misguided was that s---. In the end, even with great collaborators around him, the final say still goes to Thug. And he can be his own worst enemy.
The original leaked version of Love Me is one of my favorite love songs ever. From the way he emotes to how quirky and lovable the writing itself is, this track is perfection. He wants to turn you to wifey, give you wife things, and bend knee. He cares about your destiny.
Its crazy that this is from the Rich g--- era -- I wonder how many other joints like this (Feel It, for example) we've yet to hear. Above all, I think Thug is at is best when in this groove.
The second verse is one of my favorite Thug verses to date. Every line is a quotable.
Shine it up then bounce it, climbing in it just like a mountain
My bankroll big like a bouncer, spitting game like a counselor
Big old cross like a pastor, pop that p---- like a Snapple
b---- I'm bleeding, where the napkins?
Bite the red like an apple
Screaming free my brothers, I still sleep with my mother
Last week I made a quarter, plus I still respect others
I can't believe it's not butter, that little b---- might be my supper
I get respect from her brother, crenshaw boolin, Nipsey Hussle
Still prepared for them arrest, YSL we goin wrestle
Chanel pouch on my left, f--- the cops we don't play
Benjamins, Grants talk back, I be like "who is that?"
They be like "where you at?", meet at the Valet at Sax
Screaming free my brothers, I still sleep with my mother/Last week I made a quarter, plus I still respect others...still gets me to this day.
Scratched out the alphabet cept B, b----...whoa. She standin' naked bookin bicken. whoa.

5. The Blanguage
In the running for one of the best remixes of all time. One of the best Young Thug songs to date. If 2 cups stuffed and Danny Glover introduced a reluctant Narsh to Young Thug, Blanguage convinced me he was the best rapper on the planet. The handful of songs that are ahead of it are simply because I've formed a more personal connection with them, for various reasons.
I'm a fan of Drake's The Language. It was my most played song off of NWTS (and one of the most played in my itunes in general I think lol). I love the nonchalance, I love his voice/delivery (despite the corniness of the actual hook). This remix makes it entirely irrelevant. Young Thug is approx. 5 billion times the rapper Drake is. He's the better vocalist as well, on top of having a more interesting writing style, a more engaging narrative, and just a better body of work. But just take these two tracks: Thug creates his own language, panders to no one, and redefines what it means to be a great rapper in this decade -- what exactly did Drake do again?
Thug channels ad libs from MJ, squeaks like prime Wayne but raps like all he listened to was Andre growing up. The devil caught his soul, riding his back like a camel, and Thug flails throughout the entire track trying to get rid of his presence. From his booth, he paints a picture of wealth and extravagance tinted by paranoia. He's on the outskirts, chasin' green smokin on orange kush, feelin like a cantaloupe. He pulls up to the Intercontinental and hops out of his recently dirtied Phantom, he teleports from his booth to a banana boat, time travels back to when he made his baby sitter drink his vanilla, and somehow ends up back to where he started -- banging blood, he could never flue it.
This is, without a doubt, one of the best rap songs of the decade.
Is it a parade?

Three 6 Mafia- When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1
Favorite Tracks: 44 Killers, Sippin on some Syrup, I'm So HI, Tongue Ring, Who Run It
Least Favorite Tracks: Weak a--- b----(I hate the annoying sound in the background)
This album was a real throwback for me, I'd heard it many times, my friend group growing up became friends with a guy who'd moved to Canada from Texas. So he got us all Into the southern rap scene, so I'm very familiar with the three 6 Mafia and most of their albums.
I love Three 6 Mafia, but realized while listening to this, I love listening to the songs I like when they come on in my playlist. I don't necessarily like a whole album by them.
Juicy J is great, I love his solo work and I'm kind of tempted to pick his "stay trippy" album as my album.
Anyways quick summary, the production on their albums are always top notch, I just find them not really THAT interesting lyrically to keep my attention for a whole album.
I added a buncha songs off this to my big playlist, but can't say as a whole I love the entire album. My rating I feel is kinda low cause I do love a buncha songs on this but they're just not what I want to listen to for a whole album if that makes sense.
Score: 6.5/10
