OP wrote a whole lot of words but didn't really say much of anything, let alone any type of valid criticism. I've been pretty critical of Eminem's recent music but this thread screams "give me likes! I think Eminem is trash too!"

You tried to get your points across but failed as bad as me trying to take a s--- but missing the bowl by 10 km.

I stopped reading at lyricism...

I don't think he is lyrically solid because he just raps fast. He raps fast - but losing his flow to the beat; however he seems to have incorporated a lot of wordplay and bit more complex rhyme schemes at the same time.

Examples include Shady XV or the Southpaw soundtrack. I personally think he's experimenting on these albums but his wordplay has improved a whole new level but his flow has gone down a noch at the same time.

Your arguments just seems way too mundane. Too sour. Try being a little more paitient. Listen to more of his latter work because I think you're a bit short tempered and want to b---- on Em without a logical argument.

Come back when you can come up with more reasonable arguments.


What irks me the most is you don't like Eminem. Don't like his best work. Completely s--- all over it. s--- all over us for our opinions while being sour. Then make a thread on why he is overrated in the Eminem section.

What an absolute c----.

All s----s and giggles aside at the end of the day it's all matter of opinion, yeah of course Eminem isn't as good as he once was I won't deny that at all, and yeah some fans are a little obnoxious. If you don't like Em then there really isn't any reason to even be in here in this section. You can't convince people who are fans of the guy to suddenly change, and vice verse I wouldn't want to change your opinion because it's your thoughts on the subject matter. Em will always be my all time favorite because the way he impacted my life and the same with others, he's not the only guy listen to ether, I like to keep a open mind. Also I'm not a blind Stan I can see all the flaws, and problems from him as well, and can understand where some people may come from.

obviously YDB was 75% trolling this entire thread, but he also has a point. Lets take a stab at this.

Regardless of what Em did in his prime, it's been over a decade of utter s--- to slightly above average music. With so few real gems that they're almost not worth mentioning. Unless, of course, you're overrating him as an artist.

Also, the Kanye line is a great punchline. Whats wrong with it?

ALSO, Lose Yourself is obviously great. But the subject matter isnt something so complex that no one else can replicate it lol. Macklemore could make a song like that at this very moment if he wanted. It's how Em appraoched the POVs for the verses that really elevates it.

His point was that sales in general dont matter when talking about the artistic merits of an artist. Yeah, of course if Em died when he was good he would be considered good. Can we stop with that argument?

But do those mean anything. Do they help the narrative of the song or are they forced? Do they work aesthetically? Are they even that "complex" to begin with.

95% of what Em's done since his return isn't anything special. And he's done a lot. The point of the OP was to say that Em's overrated, right? So if its just that 5% still has people in this section drooling over him, (regardless of how good that 5% is) doesnt that mean he's overrated?

Well it's not like people are going to the J Cole section to make troll threads or call them out for liking him etc. I made one thread like that but it was just a well written piece on whats wrong with Cole's writing, nothing more. It's about how big Eminem still is. It's about how much undeserved praise he still gets. Its about his fans. Its the characteristics a majority of them share that make them targets. Their lack of open-mindedness, they're tunnel vision when it comes to his work, etc. Obviously not everyones like that. If this isnt you, this thread was meant to bait you lol.

@Narsh his arguments still aren't good. He made his points about sales so I brought up my points about sales.

And his lyricism points don't even compute with a rational statement.
