If y’all get rid of Kirk I’ll consider it lol. Yeah, 3 first rounders should be the minimum. Watson in Kyle Shanahan’s system would be awesome to watch. Hope he ends up there over any of the other messy organizations (NY, Chicago)

This bucs team is so weird and inorganic, I hope they lose. I wouldn’t want my team trying to buy a quick championship, building something organically and competing for a decade ftw

Patriots kind of did this too though towards the end of their run. Got a lot of key players via free agency, plugged them in & won championships.

this trade makes perfect sense for both teams IMO

stafford can play but the team around him isn't that good. he was just wasting away in Detroit. it made sense for the Lions to ship him off and get some draft capital in return and then start from scratch

the rams are obviously in win now mode. getting stafford is an upgrade over goff. how much of an upgrade? i don't know. but he's definitely better than jared goff and it'll give them a better chance to win for sure

completely agree....Goff is too inconsistent...he lost to the NY Jets this year....but he beat Russell Wilson + Tom Brady lol

I felt the picks that Detroit received was a bit much for Stafford but good for them in getting that....

Statistically Stafford looks better but that’s because of garbage time stats....I think he’s better but will see by how much...I think Stafford can get them 1 or 2 extra wins but not much more.

no pressure in Detroit to a lot of pressure in LA to perform....with the players around them if they don’t get to an NFC championship game / Super Bowl it’s a BuST...with the amount of picks Detroit gets

Stafford is better than Goff—how much better is another question. Both are probably mid tier QBs & I’d argue Stafford is on the border of mid tier/top 10 QB which is what makes this trade kind of difficult to assess. Stafford to me has always been the benchmark franchise QB. If your QB isn’t at least as good as Matthew Stafford, you should be looking for an upgrade.

That being said, the Rams did probably overpay for him but they are very obviously in win-now mode. Aaron Donald is gonna be 30, Jalen Ramsey in the prime of his career, Cooper Kupp & Robert Woods both entering their prime playing years—the time to make a run is now. Whether or not this trade pays off will be dictated by if they can win Super Bowl.

They were kinda like this during the Randy Moss years but they drafted Brady and their core at the start of their run, this Bucs team is the closest thing to an NBA super-team the NFL has seen

what about the Rams the year they made the bowl? Weren’t they put together mostly in free agency?

This Wentz news is pretty wild. On one hand, I think people are overreacting because I don’t think Wentz is as bad as he played this past season. At the same time, his stock has definitely gone down & does not warrant trading 1st rounders or some crazy multi-pick package. If you’re the Bears or Colts, I don’t see the long term upside to this. Sure, Wentz improves your team but going from a bad QB to a mediocre QB doesn’t really do much. Maybe you sneak into the playoffs but then what? You’re essentially banking on an Eli Manning/Nick Foles esque Super Bowl run. It’s just unlikely.

I think it makes sense for colts/bears short term...bring wentz In...has connection with both QBs...they probably still draft a qb and see what wentz has left in the tank...especially since both teams are playoff teams....have legit stars

colts are in win now mode...have the pieces for Super Bowl run...bears are in the middle...good defence...decent weapons on offense...no QB

both playoff teams...maybe wentz gets them a W in the playoffs...like you said hope they get a nick fokes magic run situation

Wentz was terrible last year...whoever takes is hoping for a version from a few years

what are you willing to give up? 2nd rd. Or 3/4th rounder? He has a terrible contract too

I think he’s damaged goods...but definitely bring him in to compete for a starting job...worse case have a pricey backup

At most a 2nd & 3rd. That even seems pricey to me. Reports are saying it’s going to be a block bluster trade though so there’s likely going to be a 1st + more. I just feel like whatever improvement you gain with Wentz isn’t worth the draft capital Philly is asking for. If I’m Indy or CHI, I rather just go after Trey Lance or Mac Jones in the draft.

agreed, wentz is not worth a 1st rounder...his contract alone is terrible...4years left...Philly eats this year but it’s like 98mil if I’m not mistaken...

colts/bears coaches/gm must be big believer in Wentz to give up a lot of draft capital...putting their job/reputation on the line with that move...

genuinely curious what y’all think about this. If you’re the Lions, which trade would you rather have:

    A) Aaron Donald + Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford

    or

    b) Two 1st rounders + 3 rounder for Matthew Stafford

Keep in mind: Donald will be 30 at the start of next season + is on a massive contract for 3 more years.

Also any team could get out of the contract after next year, the contract is only bad for us having to eat the dead money this year. But f--- it. We save 1 million by not having him on the roster compared to having a physically broken player —who i’d argue is a half-wit not living in reality since Clowney hit him last year — sitting on our bench
