    So they can say they made rule changes in support of player safety? I really don't know, very pointless IMO.

    Think it's more like what baseball did, trying to 'speed up the game' or whatever bs like that lol...But making OT 5 mins shorter and creating more ties is about the worst way to do that. Not that too many people care about speeding up football but if they did, they could have stopped having TV timeouts after a TD and then again after the kickoff, you basically have almost a 10 minute stretch there where all we get is the kickoff and 2 separate TV breaks.

    I dunno for sure if that's why they did it, just a theory.

    That's what I mean, they lax the celebration rules and take time off an extra period, just PR gymnastics.
