Wild are in big trouble lately, losing way too much and falling out of the playoff picture, gotta step it up quick before all hope for the season is lost.

The winter classic was awesome yesterday by the way, glad the NHL got a great game. What a finish with the winning goal being scored with like 12 seconds left.

Oilers trade Perron to Penguins...Perron can score and with all the injuries in Pittsburgh, this is a great trade for them.
As for the Oilers, the rebuild of the rebuild of the rebuilding continues....

The Wild need an amazing second half and they will make it but they have competition, the Predators are over exceeding and the Flames had no place to be in the running but they are and that makes the race much harder. Minnesota's goaltending is an issue IMO.

@Balzter , yep goaltending is the main issue and unfortunately it doesn't seem they have plans to do much about it for now. It was their main issue last year too and they didn't do anything to address it in the offseason. There's still some hope Kuemper becomes a top goalie but he seems way too inconsistent so far.

Nashville and Calgary have really been a surprise, Vancouver and Winnipeg i'd say too, the west is loaded. The Wild's one advantage may be that they've played less games than all these teams in front of them so they could make up the ground, just gotta start winning more often. They need to win about 3 out of every 4 games from now on, instead they keep playing .500 at best lately. It's been a frustrating year, expected more consistency. I still think they'll make the playoffs but if they don't get it going soon then they won't. I had hopes they'd be a top 4 team in the west this year, and now I'm just hoping they'll make the playoffs lol, hoped for more progression after the nice run to end last year.

Huge win by the Wild tonight, they played great and Kuemper was a beast in goal. Vanek also looks better lately. Not gonna get too excited cuz Kuemper can do this, he'll have 1 amazing game and then go back to being awful shortly after but still a big 2 points for now. Another game tomorrow, hope they put Kuemper in net again to see what he can do but they probably won't.

Nothing like winning against a self destructive Maple Leafs team, I can feel them slipping with all the injuries and the losing. Such a different dynamic with the Habs being #1 in the east and everything being rosy, all media attention is positive.

Well I mentioned how inconsistent Kuemper can be and these last 2 games are a perfect example of that. Last night he looked great, tonight he gets absolutely f---in destroyed. 4-0 halfway through the 2nd, then he gets pulled, now 5-0.

I don't know what else has to happen to show the management that they need to trade for a goalie ASAP, give up a couple good assets if you have to. They can't afford to wait much longer.

I don't watch any Wild games, but can it have to do with poor defensive play? I tend to defend goalies before anything, just because these are professional players and if they are given space and chances, they score. Sometimes the goalies have no chance and are getting bombarded with shots.

Definitely can't blame the defense for most of this, in fact the Wild had allowed the fewest shots or 2nd fewest in the league a week or 2 ago, don't know if that's still the case though. The defense definitely has gotten worse in recent weeks, partly due to injuries but Kuemper was inconsistent like this last year too. It seems to be all mental for him, sometimes he'll give up a quick goal and then totally fold and give up another 2 quick goals. Other times he'll shut a team down and play confident for a couple games and then fall apart again.

I like the guy and want him to do well, but he needs to be consistently better, still has way too many awful games. He's been pulled at least 5 times this year too.

Yeah, Minnesota would be a really scary team with a better/more consistent tender. I thought they'd have turned it around by now but the goalie situation is holding them back. Not to mention there play has dropped a little from their start, as far as 5 on 5 is concerned.

Nashville looks like a BEAST of team. They are scoring and they have a wall between the pipes. I would not want to see them if I was in the west. That will be a tough obstacle.

In the east I keep waiting but is this finally a consistent year for the Islanders!? Hope so. Always liked that organization for some reason. Growing up I had the "feels" for s-----y teams like the Isles and Lightning.

And I'm still quite impressed with Detroit. They are really a year ahead of schedule. I figured this would be another year of fighting to stay in a wildcard spot but their young guys mage huge steps and Howard has been much better this season. If they could figure out how to win a shootout or 2 they'd be pushing for the division lead....1-7 in SO's lol. Strange with their individual talent up front.

I don't really see any teams right now that are in the top spots that I don't think should be. Nobody like Colorado last season (getting bailed out by GREAT goaltending).

These next 4 games could very well decide if the Wild make the playoffs or not, Chicago twice and Nashville and Pittsburgh once. All very tough games and the Wild are in desperate need of some points, they only got 1 tonight and gave the Sharks 2, can't keep losing ground on these teams in front of them. If they keep playing like this with these next 4 games, they could very well end up with less than 3 points from these games. If that happens, hope for the playoffs is basically dead.

The Wild sometimes step up against top teams so hoping that's what happens, but they haven't looked good lately at all and Kuemper still sucks other than once every 5 games or so he'll do great. Even coach Yeo finally brought up the goaltending today, called it 'below average' which is being nice and said there's no way that game winner should have gone in.

Very worried about this stretch and not looking forward to the very real possibility of the Wild not even making the playoffs...

Yeo ripped into the Wild at practice today which I loved to see personally. The team needed it and it's basically now or never, they gotta step up now or their season's gonna be over. Here's the video of what he said, lots of F bombs which surprised me cuz Yeo is mostly laid back and calm.

After he saw Carlyle get fired in Toronto, he knew that his a--- is next if he didn't wake up his team.

Agree, I think these next 4 games will most likely decide Yeo's future and whether or not the Wild make it in the playoffs this year too.
