    @asvdawg what's toronto feeling rn with the matthews vs laine calder race.

    i know laine has like 5 more points in 5 less games, but he's a scoring winger playing with an elite centre (wish the oilers took scheifele over RNH lol) versus matthews who is a C anchoring a young line.

    Honestly at this point i think Laine might get it but im glad we have Matthews.. long run he will be the better player. Also keep in mind he plays on a line with 2 other rookies whereas laine has sheifle. But ya idk its a close race. Was lowkey hoping for Marner to explode and beat them both but that might not happen either lol

    Didn't this debate kinda happen in '05-06? Would be weird to give it to a player with worse stats.

    Laine also has to play against the other teams top pairings, this shouldnt even be a argument. But Torontos fake media will probably vote for Matthews anyways. I don't think think line mates and position should factor in that heavily. Panarin still won it playing with Kane didnt he?

    but what i'm crine at is toronto media trying to say matthews > mcdavid when man can't even play at a point per game pace hahaha.

    Wild need to get going again before the playoffs, only 4-5 I think since the trade for White and Hanzal, they were rolling before that.

    Hope they can get back in front of Chicago too, f---in hate the hawks.

    Ovi just has an easier role on the team than previous year. They don't really need him to score 55 goals anymore. I'm sure he'd still like to but not needed. Hopefully he shows up for the playoffs. Would like to see him bring home the cup or San Jose (but that's mainly to give the Canucks that first round pick)

    Idk, he looks so different this year. Used to be so explosive up the wing and on the boards, now he's gliding around like he was in the Dale Hunter era. Pretty much a PP weapon at this point. Backy and Oshie are carrying that line.

    admittedly i haven't watched him play this season minus when the oilers played him, but i just can't see an elite talent like him not bouncing back.

    i just think back to when he scored 30 and 38 (hunter was coach then?) and then came back for 4* 50 goal seasons.

    *because the lock out year he was on pace for 50, but it was a short season.

    but if you've actually been watching consistently, i'd trust your judgement more. i'm just saying that because of his pedigree

    That was the first year of the Oates era. He moved Ovi to the RW and brought his powerplay from New Jersey, Ovi/Backy essentially being Kovalchuk/Parise. Revitalized him.

    f---in Wild gonna lose to Carolina, pathetic..Only scored 1 goal, they've really been struggling with scoring lately which means they obviously aren't winning..

    Gotta turn it around fast or else the playoffs will be over fast after a mostly great season.

    3-0 already just 10 minutes in to this one.

    and david desharnais, i had no expectations with this trade but what an asset he's been since we got him at the deadline.
