    Also regarding OP I think it's closer than people think but it also depends how exactly you define hit...cuz French certainly has more club-ready music but Kendrick is a cross-genre success and basically anyone who listens to modern day music likes him even if they don't follow rap. I just counted and he has 23 (multi)platinum singles vs. French's 14 (and Kendrick's in general went way more times plat). But French also has the disadvantage of the mixtape era, cuz like Stay Schemin isn't even certified gold lol and that has Drake and Ross on it too.

    I didn't even say s--- and like Myers said kendrick bores the h--- out of me even with gkmc and from french only heard them hits and never thought he even means something in this industry apart from that. I can never see myself bumping French montana solo tracks.

    However I will check that mixtape you said, if you say thats a classic an Friday Night Lights is not, I don't wanna miss out on greatness.

    And yes French def has more hits, I don't think there is anyone who can disagree with that while keeping a straight face.

    Jk french is dope. I do agree that some of his bigger hits he's 'just' a feature but his name is still on it so who cares

    The problem I have with French is that he often strikes me as a slightly more talented DJ Khaled, regarding putting together artists and making a hit even though I know he's capable of doing better. I listen to a lot of French songs mostly for the featured artists and I don't know anybody who's like: That new french verse went crazy! There are rare occasions where he surprises me though and ventures back into his old glorius Coke Boyz days, for example this:


    Can't really hate on him, he's successful and that's all that matters I guess

    Their respective #1’s and platinum records was the biggest argument against French in the original thread and I accept that Kendrick is objectively a bigger/more successful artist, I don’t think chart success is a good indicator of how popular something is in the real world. Kendrick has 23 platinum singles but I’ve legitimately never heard anyone bumping a Kendrick single irl outside of Humble and maybe Alright. Pop That didn’t chart at all as far as I know, but I couldn’t go out without hearing that s--- at the time,

    Pretty sure they’re both (TWU & FNL) regarded as classics amongst the hip hop community. Both been out over a decade now and have been sealed as classics. But, okay...

    Complex got Coke Wave #33 best mixtape of all time. TWU #23, but FNL ain’t even on there which is surprising because fans rate it higher than TWU.
