It's more likely that Clinton just wasn't a liked enough candidate to draw the voters that Obama did. I don't think Nate Silver is as popular or has as much influence as you're suggesting. Remember, Clinton lost this election due to rural counties in Wisconsin/the rust belt. These aren't the people you would expect to be reading articles on 538 lol.

Also, Nate Silver wasn't arrogant at all. He warned constantly about the uncertainty of this election. Looking at their model doesn't tell the whole story.

Did he post the statistical significance of his model? If so and it is below 5% then his model and data s---, end of story.

This video @blair gave us deserves reposting. This guy’s really good – “The minute people assume Trump can’t make the presidency is the minute he’ll make the presidency. Assumption is the mother of all f--- ups.” He also brings up a good point about the bullying from the left, intimidating Trump supporters into silence. This must be a big reason, if not the reason, almost all the polls were wrong. (I obviously disagree with him about Trump himself but that’s beside the point.)

I’m saying he won by a greater margin than people think. This was believed to be a fair election, but it wasn’t in so many ways. Luckily though there weren’t enough illegitimate voters to steal the election. I was admittedly a little worried about that.
