HowHigh Can we get much higher?

Ok, so I just finished my first listen to the whole thing.
I can't really say much about Dre, his ghostwriters did pretty good job but his voice sounds weird nowadays. On some tracks I couldn't even tell if it's Dre or someone else rapping. Good thing is that there weren't any features that I thought were bad or ruined a track. And I was really surprised by features from Game, Snoop, Eminem and Xzibit. All of them have been hit or miss for a long time but somehow managed to deliver one of their best verses in years. Props to Dre for bringing out the best in them. And of course can't forget about Kendrick, who murdered everyone on the album. He's on his way to become one of the goats.
But... I feel like something is missing here. Mainly production wise. When I listen to the beats on 2001 they have that signature Dre sound. Besides a few beats on Compton I don't get that vibe at all. I understand that times have changed and Dre had to adapt to modern sound but I think like he could've executed this a bit better. At least that's how I feel about the production.
In conclusion, I can't call this album a classic, because it's not. But it's a very solid project overall. Need to give it a couple more listens and maybe it will grow on me more. But most likely it won't make it to my top 5 this year.

Had this album on repeat all day.
its crazy to think that last week we had no knowledge of this album
and for it to come out the way it did and be this great just amazes me.
Not one skippable track on this.

After listening to "Compton" I decided to give some of the newer artists a listen too. Really enjoyed Candice Pillay's album "The Mood k---" and King Mez's album " Long Live the King".

Candice has this hip hop/r&B/pop mix to her album. Also with a little electronic. Its really interesting. Made me a fan. Had her album on repeat today.
