Aug 19, 2015 i used to have random nights of sleep apnea where you're breathing is very shallow in your sleep, i was dreaming one night and started suffcating in my dream then woke up and it took a few seconds to start breathing normally again. s--- was scary as f---
Aug 20, 2015 I've had this too many times to count. I once had a week where I had it four nights in a row. That was a crappy week of sleep. Back in they day I would keep my eyes shut as tight as possible, fearing that if I did open them something would be standing by my bed and I didn't want to face the thing that may k--- me! But after having them so often I now kind of sigh them off and am able to snap myself out of it.
Aug 20, 2015 The start was like me as a child and I slowly developed severe anxiety attacks because of it. Finally got that all sorted out with proper medication so it's all good over here
Aug 20, 2015 That's crazy and really sucky. I cant imagine the fear you went through dealing with that as a child. Good to hear you've got everything under control.
Mar 28, 2017 I first experienced sleep paralysis a few weeks back: I was drifting in & out of sleep, then suddenly as I felt myself falling asleep, I became fully aware of everything, but couldn't move. Wasn't too bad at first but then when I realised what was happening it was f---ing scary as s--- (I've studied this in my degree before) I think it could be seen as a religious experience/OBE (but I'm not religious), because a white spirit-like mist came over me & I started hearing loud noises, then I saw some angelic figure before it all went quiet, I shouted (not sure what), then snapped back out of it. I was sweating profusely after. I have no idea how long I was in this state but it was scary as f--- and I hope I never get back in that state again If I was religious & not so skeptical of angels or ghosts etc. I may have looked more into the meaning of it or whatever but nah Lucid dreaming is supposed to be quite cool, as I believe it involves controlling your dreams. But goddamit sleep paralysis is nasty af and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy Interested to hear if anyone has a similar experience.. ps. It's hard to explain especially to those who've never experienced, but apparently there are ways of eliciting such sleep...but my advice: Don't f---ing do it
Mar 28, 2017 I have it all the time.. started when I was a child; scared me at first, but then I learned to embrace it.
Mar 28, 2017 How would you embrace it? Would scare the f--- outta anyone tbh, but I guess you'd get used to it if it happened so frequently
Mar 28, 2017 Yea, that's what I mean.. I've had it frequently since I was 9, that it really doesn't bother me anymore I'm not so much religious anymore, but I do believe in Angels and Demons...and sometimes it feels like something sitting on your chest, when you can't move or breathe
Mar 28, 2017 That's what everyone tells me.. even my gf said she experiences some things; and she says I jump in my sleep idk.. it's crazy s---
Mar 28, 2017 Have you looked into at all? There's definitely ways of preventing it...but it sounds like you've just done it the hard way by making it seem more normal lmao
Mar 28, 2017 Yea, I did some research a few years ago..and it said something about stress triggers it or something, idk.. it really doesn't bother me, because nothing really bad happens. It's normal for me I guess, I look at it as me embracing the strange. Also, Lucid Dreaming is amazing.. so many things can come from that.. most of the time you can control the type of dream you're having, and manipulate it; this is a great thread btw, hope more people join in on the discussion.
Mar 28, 2017 I've had it twice - both times when I was working the graveyard shift somewhere and for one of my last shifts it was just me so I literally just grabbed couch pillows, threw them on the ground and slept for my whole shift. Because I was sleeping in such a well lit room and I couldn't find the switch for all the lights I lied face down and put my jacket over my head for darkness. Perhaps because I was sleeping in such a weird position and in such weird circumstances it triggered it, I don't know. It would have been a very weak sleep too. I just remember waking up face down paralyzed thinking people were walking around me. It happened twice in that sleep. I wasn't scared though because I knew what it was and found it kind of cool to be honest.
Mar 28, 2017 Yet to experience it but seems pretty amazing. Wouldn't want to try and bring it on myself due to running the risk of sleep paralysis. That would be a terrible alternative haha Haha thanks bro, I don't actually make many threads
Mar 28, 2017 I've had lucid dreaming before sort of. Like, I notice when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and I'm still half asleep I can sort of intentionally take myself back to the dream I had and sort of control it.
Mar 28, 2017 Not all the time at all but there's definitely been some times we're I've managed to catch myself in that weird half sleep/half conscious state. Apparently setting your alarm every hour or something is a good way to intentionally do it.
Mar 28, 2017 I've had something similar to that.. I had a dream where I walked outside in pouring rain, and knew I was dreaming..and teleported myself back into my bed..lol then I woke up feeling like it was real; also another occurence is when I felt like I was flying around the room, and flew back into my body..and I woke up. Unless that was an outer body experience.. :/
