Feb 22, 2022 Trump praising Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine while simultaneously advocating that the U.S. use a similar strategy to invade Mexico. Very normal stuff. Nothing to see here.
Mar 15, 2022 i have a great idea, let’s all give everyone in congress a 30% raise and then use the ukraine relief as leverage
Mar 15, 2022 I would gladly give more of my tax dollars to congress salaries if I thought it would make a tangible difference and I understand it’s an extremely stressful job but Jesus Christ raise the federal minimum wage first. just give them a $1400 stimulus check and call it good
Mar 15, 2022 $174K isn't really that much... I've made that in a year and I have 1 year of college and I didn't get a bunch of people to vote for me... I just put in about 3,500 hours of hard work... I'd be down to give them more if they outlawed the egregious kickbacks to the point where corupt congresspeople went to jail and shared cells with dirty CEOs and they new that the people were paying them and not billionaires.
Mar 15, 2022 I think Sarah Mclachlan did an infomercial to help feed underprivileged congress members
Mar 15, 2022 Nope! A lot of research has shown that paying congress members more would lead to a larger more diverse pool of people willing to run for Congress & likely a more representative & responsive government. Congress member pay (once adjusted for inflation) has been on the decline since the 1960s. Congress members, due to their job, have really high life expenses. Often having to rent and/or buy homes in two different regions (DC is one of the most expensive housing markets in the country); traveling costs; family costs especially if they have kids etc. not to mention, most Congresspeople are middle aged individuals with prior private sector experience. They’re taking a significant pay cut to be a member of Congress & paying them more is key to not only retaining them & widening the pool of candidates but dissuading them from pursuing other forms of income like insider trading.
Mar 16, 2022 How is your rentals going in all seriousness, since you used to explain your investing from years back; I was actually interested in hearing. Would you consider property/land the best investment in todays world? There’s 10 acres for sell under a mile from where I live. My bid was 45k, it’s woods but there’s some nice timber too. It’s not Colorado level mountain woods but still very nice mountain woods for people who want to move to a more private area. Or people who want to move out of some local towns to raise their family in a better place without troubled people all around you. They originally were asking 60k, but no one bid that high. They were asking for way too much. But then I’d own the woods in between the house then have 2 neighbors with ground but the other side of them would be owned by me too. I thought if could get for 45k and when I feel it’s time to move on, it should sell for more than I bought it with property value going up each year. I thought if we just busted our a--- for another 10 years doing house foundations, garages and stone work in between until the bigger jobs are ready. Really leaning towards a big risk maybe buying a beach house more than likely at the outer banks first, my dad looked into Florida ones too. But I’d just rent out the beach house during our work season, and could go relax and chill there during the s-----y winter on the east coast. We looked at some lots for sale too and thought about building a smaller 2 story beach house ourselves. Not sure which one is the way to go for the first time trying this. And since with stone you don’t make as much of a profit with multiple employees laying them and one of the older ones goes at a slower pace now. But it’s just hard to find reliable employees in this field of work, or at lunch break after trying to just stock block for the layers they’d realize how out of shape they are and would just leave, literally. And the ones that get tech degrees for the mason field, they can get a job in a city that pays more, union stone Mason jobs. It’s just in this area people don’t really have more than 2 options for bigger housing foundations, superior walls.
Mar 16, 2022 My rentals are all rented. Alaska is definitely going to boom with cargo routes going around Russia... a higher military presents in Alaska... pressure for oil producers to start producing in America again and probably an influx of Ukrainians into the small towns they are already a big presence in... along with their huge cache of charity cash. Always buy real property. Land, houses, condos, ect. It's the only safe investment.... people will always need a place to live and there are more people everyday.
Mar 16, 2022 I think Anchorage will also attract people who want to be more extreme and have more rights than you have in Austin... I mean you aren't even allowed to smoke weed in the little a--- state of Texas.
Mar 16, 2022 I will have to visit Alaska sometime. One of my friends from early child hood through school ended up moving to Alaska. Once he got used to it there, he actually likes it more than PA and he gave Denver a chance but moved back to Alaska within a year. I’ll hit you up whenever I plan a trip to Alaska and do some research while there because Alaska is expected to boom in the near future according to some economists I follow. It wouldn’t be until later November-December when I can take my own personal vacation because of work. I’m not interested in Texas at all tbh. Not sure what the hype was about there whenever LA closed down and most people flocked back to LA. I don’t even care about getting caught with a little weed anymore tbh. My PA med card is going to expire on the 22nd but I don’t like how they made me sign rights on not being able to get a concealed carry permit. Hate to get pulled over with a gun n the wrong cop tries throwing the book at me and just feel safer with the carry permit.
Mar 16, 2022 8 dispensaries within a mile of my house. Everyone is expected to have at least one gun on them here. Open and concealed carry without a permit or even a class is fine here... you have to be a felon not to be able to brandish a Fostech origin 12 SBV everywhere you go around here.
