Can't speak for others, but the month of G1 is always a blur to me. Especially so with my life right now. It's an absolute odyssey.

Think about what Big said - He rated NINETEEN matches 4.5 or above. Mine are going to be higher. It's f---ing insanity.

@NJPWBros Here is my comprehensive list of the best matches throughout G1 2019. Some of these I kept track of and rated the night of, while others I forgot and went back to add them, so hopefully I didn’t forget anything and hopefully there are no repeats.

I had 19 4.5+ star matches, so I ordered them with my favorite being #1, my second favorite #2, etc. Everything past 19 is not in order. The matches from around 11/10 to 1 are absolute must see in my mind but really the top 19 are all incredible(!) matches. 20-37 are awesome matches, and the fact that I thought 17 MORE matches where greater than 4* speaks to the massive amount of high quality wrestling here. 38-42 are odds and bits I had wrote down for whatever reason. Everything > 4* should be comprehensive, everything under is not. There were too many good wrestling matches around 4* to ever keep track of.

    1. Will Ospreay vs Kazuchika Okada 5*

    2. Kota Ibushi vs Will Ospreay 5*

    3. Tomohiro Ishii vs Shingo Takagi 4.75*

    4. Tomohiro Ishii vs Jon Moxley 4.75*

    6. Tetsuya Naito vs Shingo Takagi 4.75*

In retrospect, what a month. It’s splitting hairs at this point to really compare this G1 to the other two I’ve watched because they’re all so unbelievable it is a shame to try and say one is better than another. The three shows spanning my top 2 matches is the best three day stretch of wrestling I’ve ever watched, outside of maybe the 2017 semi-finals/finals.

G1 MVP — it was tough this year and came down to three men.

Ishii had 8 matches in my favorite 37. 2 matches in the top 5, and 5 matches in my top 19 overall. He did this while being in the weaker block.

Ospreay also had 8 matches within my favorite 37. He was involved in both of my top two highest rated, favorite matches in the tournament. These matches were within days of eachother. He had 3 matches in the top 10, and 5 in the top 19.

Okada has 7 matches in my top 37. He was involved in almost half (4) of my top 5 favorite matches of the G1 this year, including my favorite match. Those were his only 4 matches within the top 19.

    Winner — Will Ospreay

@NJPWBros @tomroe93 tournament almost over. Here are my faves and some thoughts. Dates should be correct

5/15 Dragon Lee vs SHO ****1/4
    5/16 Romero vs Ospreay ****1/2
5/22 El Phatasmo vs Ospreay ****1/2
    5/22 Scurll vs Takagi ***3/4
5/23 Dragon Lee vs Takagi ****1/4
    5/23 Bandido vs Ospreay ****1/2
    5/23 Scurll vs SHO ****1/4
5/24 El Phantasmo vs Romero ****1/2
5/24 Dragon Lee vs Titan ****
    5/26 Ospreay vs Eagles ****1/4

El Phantasmo has been the biggest surprise to me. Was not familiar with his work whatsoever but he’s excellent.
Will Ospreay is MVP obviously. He’s phenomenal might be putting on the best work in the world right now.
Never was a big fan of Rocky Romero in the ring but he has been involved in two absolute classics. Two matches above are must see.
My favorites are Ospreay/Phantasmo, Phantasmo/Romero, Ospreay/Bandido in that order.

Sorry I don’t post much anymore

I watched this last night live on Fite and holy s--- was a f---ing show...the last match was insanity. I really don't think Arquette knew was he was getting into lol

At the end he literally started shooting on Nick Gage, while holding the open hole in his neck together with one hand, because he was so over taking so much punishment.

If anyone wants to watch the show (It was Joey Janela's indy show) on Fite just make a new account from this link and you'll be able to watch it for free.

Unless they do it in November, probably Ospreay.

@Sign Language his best matches are against Ospreay in ROH, Juice at the G1 special, Omega in January, Hangman at the G1 special, and the G1 matches Big mentioned with Hangman and Okada.

The Ospreay match is the best introduction to him as its almost all action and highlights a lot of what he can do in a short amount of time. It's the match that really put him on the radar and you'll notice he was working a lot faster than he does in New Japan. It's matches like this which reminds me of his potential when he starts getting bigger and bigger matches. Despite your reservations about Juice, that match had absolutely phenomenal heat and I'm sure you'd like that one a lot too.

    Watch here - https://www.bilibili.com/video/av11677657/

    I prefer this one

    Edit

Big, remember when I said Tanahashi was done as the ace? These last three performances have been out of this world. I'd have no issue with him beating Omega.

I can’t f---ing wait for Saturday...for someone who has been watching the Bucks live for years and years at PWG long before they ever got big I’m so happy for those dudes for pulling off this show. I really believe this is only the beginning and there is a 0% chance the go to WWE next year.

I’ll be watching live on Fite (promo code vwz95mz if you want a free $15 in Fite credits lol) even though I could watch it for free, since it’s included with my Honor Club subscription, I just want to support the show. My mark a--- even ordered Starrcast on Fite lol Although I only did that because I had so many free credits on Fite from all the Evolve/WWN shows I ordered last Wrestlemania weekend through there.

@Gloku unfortunately I don’t think Zero Hour will be on anywhere else but WGN, even after the fact. Plus I think NJPW World won’t have All In up on there for a couple days just like they wait to put the Rev Pro stuff up. I heard WGN might make Zero Hour available to stream on demand next week on their website, I’m not sure if that’s true though.

Man I would love if Neville won the battle royal and went onto face Lethal for the ROH Title later in the night.

@NJPWBros this G1 was by far my favorite stretch of wrestling in a long time. So many top tier matches. I agree @Big Dangerous Ishii was easily the MVP the G1 winner gets one title shot whereas Ishii is over here with potentially 3. All in all a fantastic tournament. Had story, emotion, athleticism and overall quite a few wrestlers were elevated in my eyes like SANADA, Hangman Page, Juice & ZSJ

Just got done watching the show.

    Some notable points;
Will Ospreay is one crazy in ring performer. Outsanding skills. He just amazes me. :sweatt::rejoice:

Jericho.. GOAT as always. Knows how to stay innovative.

As far as the main event goes... those are the kind of wrestling matches that make you love wrestling. The kind of matches that make you wish and want to be a wrestler some day. Each match they have is better than the previous one and they keep breaking the scale.

Screw WWE, NJPW is the place to Be.

I won't say Cody is a great in-ring competitor, but I love him as a pro wrestler now. I have massive respect for him for betting on himself and actually making strides as a character when he could've just collected ROH and indy checks as Cody Rhodes

Soooo..the ROH show was pretty great, a little long but we both thoroughly enjoyed it very much. The young bucks, Ibushi, hangman, kenny, flip Gordon and Cody were absolutely f---ing killing it. Ibushi and hangman was probably my favorite of the night if. I'd have to watch it again though, by the time Kenny and codys match started we were nearing exhaustion. Cody is an amazing heel, his crowd interaction was so enjoyable to see, it was really fun to be apart of that energy in such a small venue. You could feel the cheers and boos lol
