Was gonna wait until Mania for this, but f--- it. There's a handful of matches from NOAH and DDT still to watch, but here's this year so far. Zack Sabre Jr. is leading the pack for wrestler of the year with Ospreay right behind, followed by Okada. That said, The Young Bucks have far and away been the best performers. Nick Jackson has been absolutely OUT OF THIS f---ing WORLD in the ring, where Matt's really stepped up to be the emotional core of the group. Cody the best character and promo.

    5

Adrade Cien Almas vs Johnny Gargano (NXT)
The Golden Lovers vs The Young Bucks (NJPW) [Strong Style Evolved]
Ospreay vs Marty Scurll [NJPW] [Sakura Genesis]
Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho (NJPW)

    4.75

Okada vs Zack Sabre Jr. (NJPW) [Sakura Genesis]
Ishii vs Michael Elgin (NJPW) [New Japan Cup Day 1]
Ospreay vs Hiromu (NJPW) [The New Beginning In Osaka]
    Okada vs Naito (NJPW)
    Ospreay/Hiromu/Kushida/Marty Scurll (NJPW)
Eddie Edwards vs Kenoh (NOAH) [Winter Navigation]

    4.5

The Young Bucks & Hangman Page vs SoCal Uncensored (Las Vegas Street Fight) [ROH 16th Anniversary]
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Kota Ibushi (New Japan Cup Day 6)
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Tanahashi (New Japan Cup Finals)
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Sanada (Day 8)
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Naito (New Japan Cup Day 3)
Ospreay vs Okada (New Japan 46th Anniversary)
The Golden Lovers vs Marty Scurll & Cody (NJPW Honor Rising Day 2)
Okada vs Sanada (The New Beginning In Osaka)
Tanahashi vs Suzuki (NJPW) [The New Beginning In Sapporo)

    4.25

    Ospreay vs Mark Andrews (RPW)
Yoshi-hashi vs Kota Ibushi (New Japan Cup Day 3)
Johnny Gargano vs Andrade Cien Almas (NXT)
    Cody vs Kota Ibushi (NJPW)
    Goto vs Suzuki (NJPW)
Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali (205 Live)
    Matt Riddle vs Jaku (Evolve)
    ACH vs Fenix (PCW)
Adam Cole vs Alestair Black (NXT)
Kenny Omega vs Jay White (NJPW)
The Young Bucks vs R3K (NJPW)
The Young Bucks vs Best Friends (ROH)
The Golden Lovers & Chase Owens (still lol) vs Cody/Hangman/Marty Scurll) (NJPW)
TJP vs Cedric Alexander (205 Live)
    Taichi vs Naito (NJPW)
Drew Gulak vs Mustafa Ali (205 Live)
Adam Cole vs Chris Hero (NXT)

Too lazy to post the 4's. Anything 4.5 and above is a must watch if you wanna be up on the year, would recommend whatever interests you below that. Feel comfortable saying that everything here is varying degrees of great. (4 is an 8/10, for a reference point)

If anybody's responsible for today's wave of indie wrestling, it's 90's cruiserweights, ECW, All Japan, and everything Shawn Michaels was involved with in that decade. Lol.

I know you're f---ing around, but we can just as easily say The Motor City Machine Guns are responsible for The Young Bucks, and so on. Nah brah.

    edit

Lol anyone remember when The Bucks were Generation Me in TNA? Their debut was insane. Took them no time at all to turn them into a bunch of geeks, and now they're the best tag team in the world.

I think Almas vs Gargano is MOTY so far

New Japan has been nothing but excellent across the board, but I don't feel like the peaks match what we had last year to this point

In all seriousness i blame ECW for bad indie wrestling. Backyard wrestling was cringe.

Generation Me was a trip. Not a fan of the YB style but i got mad respect for them.

@Pinhead if it's not too much trouble, could you get the list of specific events for those matches instead of just the company? If not, it's cool lol

@tomroe93 Got the post WK events for the 4.5+'s listed. The 4.25's should be easily found on the network or just googling "____ vs ____ 2018". Should be among the first results.

I think we're on pace for a comparable year compared to last but then again I think I'm way more into Zack and what he's done than you are.

    Almas/Gargano and Ospreay/Marty my #1 and #2 for now.

If anyone knows where I can see this let me know. edit - this weekend is costing me way more money than I expected it to

Just watched the Lucha Underground/TNA show. Low rent production and feel, god awful commentary, disappointing matches. Dead crowd. Aries made a Trump joke to Alberto at the press conference after he shot on a fan and Del Rio said f--- you and Trump, only to no show for his main event on Wrestlemania weekend for the company he says he's the face of. This show is gonna get lost in the sea of others this weekend, but they really need to do better when outside eyes are on the product.

Matanza vs Moose vs Matt Sydal vs Caleb Konley vs Jack Evans vs Chavo - 3
Allie vs Valkyrie - Mid 2000's Diva's match
Scott Steiner & Teddy Hart vs OVE - 1.5
    King Querno/Drago/Aerostar vs Andrew Everett/DJZ/Desmond Xavier - 4
Trevor Lee vs Marty the Moth - 3.25
Brian Cage vs Eli Drake - 3.5
Sami Callahan vs Eddie Edwards (I Quit Match) - 3.5
Austin Aries vs Pentagon Jr. vs Fenix - 3.75

About to check out Evolve. Hey, another Ospreay match!

    EVOLVE 102

AR Fox vs Will Ospreay - 4.5
Catch Point vs. Catch Point (Dominic Garrini & Tracy Williams) vs. The End vs The WorkHorsemen - 3.25
Darby Allen vs Keith Lee - 3.75
    Daisuke Sekimoto & Munenori Sawa vs.Timothy Thatcher & Walter - 4
Matt Riddle vs Zack Sabre Jr. (EVOLVE CHAMPIONSHIP) - 4.5

Plan for tomorrow is Takeover/Supercard and the highlights of the WNN Supershow and RevPro. f---ing h---.

Soooo..the ROH show was pretty great, a little long but we both thoroughly enjoyed it very much. The young bucks, Ibushi, hangman, kenny, flip Gordon and Cody were absolutely f---ing killing it. Ibushi and hangman was probably my favorite of the night if. I'd have to watch it again though, by the time Kenny and codys match started we were nearing exhaustion. Cody is an amazing heel, his crowd interaction was so enjoyable to see, it was really fun to be apart of that energy in such a small venue. You could feel the cheers and boos lol

    Supercard was great

    Chuckie T vs Jonathan Gresham - 3
Punishment Martinez vs Ishii - 3.75
Kota Ibushi vs Hangman Page - 4.5
SoCal Uncensored vs The Young Bucks & Flip Gordon - 4.5
The Briscoes vs Jay Lethal & Tanahashi - 3.75
    Cody vs Omega - 4.25
Dalton Castle vs Marty Scurll (ROH Title) - 4

Omega/Cody had a funky finish and the final stretch felt like they were just going through the motions of a big Omega match until the final angle. It's getting to the point in some of these matches with lesser workers where he's just murdering them with knees and you're just waiting until they move to the final stretch of the match. Cody hit a vertebreaker though, which was insane.

    Rev Pro New Orleans

    Adam Brooks/Brian Cage - 3.75
    Ospreay/Chuckie T/Rocky Romero vs Kota Ibushi/Flip Gordon/Shane Strickland - 4
Suzuki vs Jeff Cobb - 3.5
Tanahashi & Juice Robinson vs Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis - 3.5
Ishii vs Zack Sabre Jr. (REV PRO Title) - 4.5

    WWN Supershow: Mercury Rising

Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Munenori Sawa - 4.25
Chris Dickinson & Jaka vs. Walter & Timothy Thatcher - 3.5
Keith Lee vs. Daisuke Sekimoto - 3.75
    Some Street Fight that s----d
Ospreay vs Matt Riddle - 4.75

Looking forward to the Riddle/Suzuki match but I am so done with wrestling right now.
