Jun 20, 2018 Picture this....Ibushi and Omega go to a time limit draw giving Naito the B block win. Naito goes on to beat Okada and then finally goes over Omega at wrestle kingdom. Now Ibushi and Omega have real tension Also Ospreay and Scurll was phenomenal the only thing that held it back was Scurll literally killed Ospreay then Ospreay did a comeback and a finish and won like it was nothing. Still a great match but I prefer the BOSJ final
Jun 20, 2018 Definitely a valid criticism...I thought forsure we were gonna get a ref stoppage when Marty was crushing his head and neck...then Ospreay immediately fired up and I was aw man that was kinda lame. Still had a great visual though with his head drenched in blood
Jun 20, 2018 I would've cared less about the baby face comeback had the botch and Ospreay nearly dying not happened. They should've called an audible in the ring and stretched out the comeback/made it a steeper climb Still 4.75 imo Marty's best match to date
Jun 20, 2018 The overkill is kinda why I gave it five stars lmao. I was terrified when Marty was stomping on his head. That match would be like top 5 all time for me if they had gone an extra 5-10 and Will had a bit more offense throughout. The problem with calling an audible in that situation is Ospreay was genuinely messed up at the moment and both guys had to make the same call to change the ten count.
Jun 20, 2018 I'm not saying the botch made the match worse to me. In fact it took it to the next level and made it truly something special. But because of the botch and Marty stomping his neck, Ospreay's cleanup comeback at the end just seemed like bs.
Jun 20, 2018 According to Omega, New Japan has been trying to do that match forever. I'm with you but after expecting it at the Dome I'm done with waiting. They'll find a way tell a good story if they're forced into it lol we don't need another year or two wait.
Jun 20, 2018 Anxious to see how they handle Omega's reign late this year and mix in Naito needing a win back against Jericho, Naito needing an actual payoff against the big dogs, and Ibushi feuding with Kenny. I'm past just being a Kenny fan, it's been more than that for me since last year so I won't be disappointed if he doesn't hold the belt a super long time. But with the global expansion finally hitting full force him being champ is vital and it'll be odd if the payoff to the Okada series leading into the expansion is him dropping to Naito at wrestle kingdom even though in reality it needs to be done
Jun 20, 2018 I saw it more as a desperation thing. My only problem with it was how it made Marty look so weak in comparison. I feel like they should have at least gone with two Ocutters at the end to balance it out. It's been a very protected finish though so it doesn't hurt my enjoyment of it too much.
Jun 20, 2018 Personally I really dislike the Oscutter. The setup the finish itself etc. Will has many other cool signatures that don't look like a plot device for him to be countered And overall the move is just dumb
Jun 20, 2018 Jericho maybe does Tanahashi or Okada at the Dome? I feel like those guys and Omega/Naito/Ibushi are all going to be matched up for the top 3 main events somehow. I think Omega is at least holding it until then for sure. Meh, no more stupid to me than any Cutter. Hoping the Storm Breaker becomes his real finish, that move is amazing.
Jun 20, 2018 I wish I got more excited over NJPW. Like it’s the best pure wrestling show out there and I never walk away disappointed, but I don’t really ever anticipate any of their events either
Jun 20, 2018 It's the format. Very late night shows, spread out over the month, tag team based undercards that only really matter for the story and live crowd. It took me anticipating the big matches and always making a point to watcha those. Even if I didn't know the guys, I would trust that they were good. The interest in everything else going on came after that. Wrestling is best live. I've heard there's a really good Elgin/Goto match from his weekend, but it's tough to immediately go watch it. If you are interested, at least try to check the schedule/results once in a while. G1 is also a perfect way to get into it.
