Oct 11, 2018 "There's a lot of unrest, everyone's unhappy. I can't say everyone, but almost everyone." - Dave tonight. Lots in the Observer but new management hasn't exactly inspired the talent there. Kinda getting worried. A lot who'd never have left months ago are considering leaving.
Oct 11, 2018 Also Don Callis is apparently done. Rocky is too much and this Chris Charlton is just the biggest geek. This is extremely reactionary by me but it's like the vibe and texture of New Japan is starting to fade
Oct 11, 2018 It's quick to make assumptions, let's give them the benefit of the doubt. So that report about Callis was true a week or so ago? Is there a confirmation? If so that f---ing sucks because he with Kelley added so much to NJPW...the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Omega is Callis' voice at ringside. And like you said it's one thing with a good replacement but Charlton, and I respect that he's knowledgeable and obviously loves wrestling, is a geek and had a suuuuper annoying voice. Rocky sucks s--- at commentating too
Oct 11, 2018 Also, did anyone else think JR was actually a LOT better with Kelley on that show? Like, I enjoyed him
Oct 11, 2018 It was in the Observer that there were scheduling conflicts in G1, but he hasn't been called since or given any future dates. Idea of JR has been floated for the Tokyo Dome with Lanny Poffo as a possible replacement.
Oct 11, 2018 Callis worked early G1 dates didn't he? Seemed completely satisfied like nothing was wrong
Oct 11, 2018 He loves working there, and I think he did the first few nights of G1. The problem is he's running Impact and Kevin was in Japan with Rocky travelling all over Japan that month. There's probably a sense that they need a steady constant(s) with Kevin and it's not necessarily worth fitting Don in whenever it works for him. I honestly get it from a business POV, just sucks. Edit Might get a Dragon Gate sub for December over New Japan to check things out. This Neville and Shingo hype got me hype.
Oct 11, 2018 Apparently Kenny came out and said he had fractured ribs? I knew the exact moment it happened while I was watching. During the triple threat at one point, I think to break up a pin or something, Ibushi springboards off the roads and lands directly heel first onto Kenny's ribs He immediately raises up and yells something (presumably "f--- MY RIBS") to someone at ringside (presumably one of the Bucks). I thought when it happened I would definitely not be surprised if that injured him and sure enough apparently it did
Oct 15, 2018 Harsh crowd for James Ellsworth at Bound for Glory last night. Thought all the internet geeks loved him
Oct 15, 2018 Not the wrestling geeks who want wrestling. How about Aries getting up immediately after the main event and walking out with double fingers, then going home before the tapings tonight and tomorrow? Idk how this company has these things keep happening to them.
Oct 15, 2018 @Pinhead @Big Dangerous figured I'd post in here bc of the comparisons it gets. I just watched the chi town rumble between flair and steamboat which I thought was an amazing match. My one gripe with it is when flair has steamboat in his figure 4 and he visibly taps out but the ref doesnt call it. Thoughts?
