Feb 19, 2016 the first verse on king TROUP. the more i break it down the better it gets. i feel like doing a new write up just on this: [Verse 1] I just beat the case I hopped out the Benz I just f----- some twins Had the jewelry in I hopped out again Pulled up in the Range Got drank in my cup Like I'm Kirko Bangz From ashy to classy Keep up with my ice and my fashion I take care of my kid with a passion I pray to God that they stay happy Lil Roscoe, he sleep where it's nasty They could've freed him cause he grew up with no daddy But instead they took advantage and did him badly Ain't give no f---s cause we were saddened Got a camera from the club and that's all they had They also knew that lil' n----- didn't have a wagon (Free the Goat) d--- @ThuggerSXN discuss
Feb 19, 2016 just the way that Troup's death lead to him basically realizing his own mortality >>> like the intro is the catalyst for the all the random, yet interconnected, thoughts he has on this verse/song he opens up with "i just beat the case" goes on to describe how he's celebrating his freedom (including taking care of his kids with a passion) then realizes Roscoe lost that same case he beat and breaks down its fantastic
Feb 19, 2016 @Narsh I wish I could focus on music to the degree you do. Reading breakdowns of songs like this show me just how thought provoking he is and that it's not just catchy music. Show me the way young gawd
Feb 19, 2016 Honestly, these days that'd pretty much what's playing. Other than trying to sift through and sort through TLOP
Feb 19, 2016 hahah im just playin but yeah i do just listen to music a lot so a lot of my insight comes just from sitting w the material a lot but i mean i do the same thing with tv shows/movies etc. its just how my brain works. really bad at paying attention to the little things but pretty decent at looking at the bigger picture ive been playin TLOP, Im Up, Out My Past (boosie), and Islah (kevin gates) non stop these past few weeks
Feb 19, 2016 It's a shame that some people don't realize this, and just write him off as another rapper who just talks about materialistic things in every song. Hardcore Em Stans especially tbh.
Feb 19, 2016 maybe im a complete idiot but what does this verse mean? @Narsh also really hungover lol
Feb 19, 2016 I've yet to listen to the boosie albums bc I've been on a thug listening spree since barter 6. Gates was nice but i don't find much replay value. Not that's it's not good, I really enjoy listening to him but I don't find there's much to analyze. Thug is hypnotic in the same sense that prime eminem, wayne and kanye are/ were. To me anyway
Feb 19, 2016 For me ita kinda goes like this. I LOVE listening to him but sometimes I find myself questioning why I listen to him or If I REALLY like him that much or if I'm just that bored with music that I'd listen to this alien MFer. I can't fully articulate why I like him but I know that there's something genuine about his music and that he DOES have something to say, it's just to work at discovering it. He's my favorite rapper right now and I don't know why lol
Feb 19, 2016 I know what you mean. I was the same way at first. I remember being surprised when I found myself enjoying his music lol.
Feb 19, 2016 Yea gates is really blunt/straightforward as a rapper but that's part of what makes him awesome imo
Feb 19, 2016 This whole song is 11/10. I HOP OUT I'M DABBIN to the feint "Stop the killin, we get millions" there's so much more to this song than what meets the eye (ear?).
Feb 19, 2016 At first I was like, "oh only the intros about TROUP?" Then realized the entire song, at its core, is completely about TROUP and how his death made thug feel
