Mar 29, 2021Easily Daytona for me. His other projects got some 10/10 individual songs, but Daytona the only one I’m playing all the way through.

MNIMN I tend to revisit more, even though I believe Daytona to be the superior album.hargydon, Chrollo, Sav Stanfield and 1 other person like this. -

First RR album I listen to was PoM2. Wasn't overly impressed. I know there's better examples of his but not inspired to listen to them all.Ordinary Joel, Jeans, BIGFOOT and 1 other person like this. -

Teflon Don—Mastermind is also a personal favorite of mine. Rich Forever as well, which honestly I think should be included in this because it was going to be an album but he released it for free as a "mixtape" due to label issues. Just shows how meaningless the "mixtape" vs. "album" terminology was at that point.Ordinary Joel, Jeans, Sav Stanfield and 1 other person like this. -

I've said this in the past and I'll say it again. I've been a die-hard West Coast fan since I was a teenager. Never got into the majority of the East Coast sound. But I'd love to.
Nothing taking me away from X for a while yet though.Sav Stanfield, Jeans and Ordinary Joel like this. -

All of these albums are in that certified classic category that keeps me revisiting them time and time again. I think I could recite these all backward lol. Besides Tical and you could probably make a solid argument for any of them being the best but my personal pick would be Liquid Swords. It was one of the first albums I remember completely nerding out to, trying to figure out the hidden meaning in every single bar, just listening on repeat for weeks at a time. And that cinematically grimy sound that RZA produced that I'm pretty sure shaped my music taste forever.
Tbh at this point I'd put Enter the Wu above any of these. Thats just utter perfection on the same level as Illmatic, MBDTF, etc. to me.Jeans, Ordinary Joel and DKC like this. -

I feel pretty confident in saying OB4CL is the best, but I don't think Liquid Swords is super far off.Sav Stanfield, Ordinary Joel and Jeans like this. -

After careful consideration I've gotta go with Its Dark and h--- is Hot. I guess it's the same for a lot of debut albums, the hunger is at the peak of intensity. Faultless piece of work and perfectly sets his entire discography for that certain sound. The "X" factor if you will...Jeans, Ordinary Joel and Sav Stanfield like this. -

It's been ages since I've listened to his albums other than the first 2 (which I still occasionally revisit just because of how d--- good they are), but man, And Then There Was X and Grand Champ were vital to my introduction to hip hop back back in the day. Great Depression too, although I never got into that one as much. But in terms of his overall catalog, its gotta be Its Dark and h--- Is Hot. Thats a contender for Top 10 hip hop album of all time. I've seen it being described as the Dante's Inferno of hip hop, just a journey through h--- told in the voice of a half-man-half-dog on a murderous rampage.
@Jeans you've got the right idea though, I think I'mma need to relisten to the full discog.Jeans, icecube and Ordinary Joel like this. -

Toss up between his first two. It's tough for me to wanna vote against an album with the line "I got blood on my hands and there's no remorse/I got blood on my d-ck cuz I f----- a corpse" but I've always kinda liked It's Dark and h--- Is Hot more.Sav Stanfield, Wreckless and Ordinary Joel like this. -

I picked ...And Then There Was X but it could honestly be a toss up between that It's Dark and h--- is Hot and The Great Depression.
Redemption of The Beast shouldn't count as an official album imo.Ordinary Joel, DKC and Yeez like this. -

I added Wrath of Caine and Fear of God II to the poll cuz those are such big essentials imo and his solo discography is pretty small.
