    why would a sportscenter interview be the one where drake goes at kendrick when he had multiple other interviews at the time

    In a new interview with Elliott Wilson (via Pitchfork), Drake spoke at length about Kendrick’s verse. He prefaced his comments by saying he considers Kendrick “super talented… he’s the underdog who’s extremely hungry, and he’s doing his thing.” However, when it comes to the actual verse, Drake was not as impressed as others: “[Kendrick] is giving people moments. But are you listening to it now, at this point in time? Okay… It was real cool for a couple weeks. If I asked you, for example, how does that verse start? Mind you, it’ll go on– Complex and Rap Radar will give it like, verse of the millennium and all that s--- or whatever.”

    He continued: “I know that verse had no malice behind it, because I saw him five days later at the VMAs and it was all love. He didn’t come on there in some wild ‘I’m in New York, f--- everybody, don’t look at me’. It was one of those things, I almost wished he had come in there on that s---, because I kind of lost a little respect for the sentiment of the verse. If it’s ‘really f--- everybody’ then it needs to be ‘f--- everybody’. It can’t be halfway for the sake of the people.”

    “When it comes to competition, Drake explained, “I’m more worried about consistency, bodies of work… There’s one guy who is up every night thinking about how to get better, how to do things bigger, and that’s Kanye West. He’s always going to be the guy who tries to out think and out do everybody. That’s my guy I aspire to surpass.”

    So does Kanye and supposedly they got 40 songs together,

    I really don't know if he f---s with Drake or not, he was singing Controlla in his whip last year but maybe he's biter cause Drake's #1 in terms of attention/sales etc..I don't think it's personal at all otherwise it would have blown up already like it did with Meek.

    But tbh I think control was taken somewhat out of context, he wasn't directly dissing all the ppl he mentioned, it was more of just telling the entire industry to step their game up and create a sense of competition that had been lost since really Em's prime and ppl took it personal. But then again kdot didn't really explain it like that so your point is still valid

    But that Kanye comment at the end hasn't aged well lol

    I mean, is hard to say exactly what music the beef directly caused -- 2pac and biggie's disses against each other are very far from the most compelling parts of their music IMO. I don't find myself ever listening to, like, hit em up, but I love Kick in the Door. So probably yeah it caused some good songs to be made but I think they would have made great music regardless because they already made great music prior to the beef. It's a lot of conjecture.

    Considering TLOP was biting a lot of different ppl styles and he was committed and has diverted his attention to fashion and actually took a break from music iirc, I would think not

    and yea the whole control think was people talking in drakes ear that f----- him up u cant deny that drake did a lot to try to help kendricks career around 2011/12 by putting him on tour and on take care so drake was just blind sided by him name dropping him :pce50:

    Saying he's trying to be as big as Em isn't a diss at all.
    I mean he's right though, s--- was fake af by Kendrick. He's saying f--- everybody step your game up, then it's all love when you see him, then diss again a week later?

    What's your issue with the Kanye comment? He's got one of the best discographies of all time, nothing wrong with aspiring to be better than that.

    I specifically remember ppl on here saying how Facts showed Kanye dickriding a sound and not innovating (Drake jumpman), not to mention he basically just copy/pasted Panda bc it was a trendy future like sound etc
