    How I see the control s--- is:
    *kendrick tells the whole industry to step their game up for the sake of competition
    *ppl like drake take it personal which leads to the subliminal disses and s---, Kendrick then has to respond back (subliminally)

    And I recognize Ye's discography, it was more a joke at his current state but I retract it bc I don't want this thread getting derailed

    I see why Drake would feel the way he does, I'm just saying I don't think it was kdots intention. I mean he mentioned Cole (and ab soul I think?) but they obviously didn't take I personally bc they have a good relationship now

    kendrick in his interviews afterwards had me dead "i aint know it was gonna do that" or "nah man its just rap" type of responses while people was hyping the track up its like no one saw them interviews :what22:

    If it's before which I think it is then the BET diss was a response to kdot feeling slighted by Drake saying his verse wasn't that good or whatever he said. Then the Cold War/beef started in earnest. Correct me if I'm wrong

    Doubt it, Drake started the interview saying Kendrick was super talented.

    Basically Drake is the biggest in the game, how do you get bigger than him? You try to diss and take him out.

    I think Drake knew it wasn't personal and that Kendrick just wanted some attention/shine off his name, which is why he never went all the way in.

    Beef in rap is cool, but only if it's real. This guy was talking s---, said it was just rap, then started talking again, why would you pay that any real attention if you're Drake?

    You make good points, tbh at this point it may just be them both having fun and stirring up interest while they are personally fine (drake shouting him out on for free kinda gives me this impression).

    I think this lost interview would answer most of our questions tho. Depending on who it was talking the s---. If it was kdot then yeah that would prove all your points correct pretty much (I think kdot actually rapped on buried alive that he was jealous to drake) If it was Drake tho it would beg the question why does it bother him so much?

    I'm gonna be honest tho and say I think koolo is on to something as well. A large part of it could be that kdot just doesn't like drake using ghostwriters (even tho he ghostwrites for dre), and drakes content/persona (post take care) runs anathema to kdots content (as corny as that sounds)
