Jun 6, 2018 See, the thing is, I don't think that makes both tracks more meaningful. I just think it weakens them both. I think an album about being bipolar could be done a lot better than this. Buncha reference tracks and demos that he wrote/recorded in a month's time.
Jun 6, 2018 I think that's a fair take, and that's how I viewed at initially too re: the parental anxiety parts. It's one of those things like, yeah, maybe it should have taken kanye less than 40 years to realize women are people too, but I'd rather have someone realize it at 40 than not at all, you know? But I guess some of the clunky lines about yoga and stuff make it fall a bit flat for me, as well as the repetitive pimps/players lines. Rereading the lyrics just now I think I was being a bit too harsh on it.
