Apr 28, 2015 thats what you guys get for shi--ing on my review for "only" giving it a 7.7 http://sectioneighty.com/review-yelawolf-love-story/ smd
Apr 28, 2015 This tbh Different strokes for different folks, but predominantly one kind of folk write these big reviews
Apr 28, 2015 I thought the Pitchfork Shady XV review captured it even better: Mathers' great talent—his 180-degree ear for how everything can be made to rhyme with everything else, how chains of these rhyming lines can be erected into dizzying towers—has officially devolved into a tic. His verses denature all sense of pronunciation and meter and natural speech rhythm; you could probably read this review as one long Eminem verse. ...because he has no other ideas, and nothing further to say, and is painfully aware of it: "There's no more emotion for me to pull from/ Just a bunch of playful songs that I make for fun/ So, to the break of dawn, here I go, recycling the same old song," he says. The frankness of the message is remarkable: We're stuck with him, an aging white man with nothing left to say gripping the biggest bullhorn in hip-hop. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/20036-various-artists-shady-xv/
Apr 28, 2015 Idk what the uproar is.. like pitchfork or any other "critic" matters to the music YOU like.. f--- them or anyone else, I know it stings sometimes that a "critic" gives a low score, to an album, film, or game you love...but they shouldn't matter, to how YOU FEEL..again, f---'em.
Apr 28, 2015 Love Story is a way better album than Shady XV, and better than most of Eminem's music these days. i would give it a solid 8, the lowest would be like a 7.5
Apr 28, 2015 Do you agree that if Eminem is associated with a project, writers tend to use their reviews as an opportunity to wax on his legacy, overstate the album's badness by focusing on his involvement?
Apr 28, 2015 yeah the conclusion was a little flimsy. it's a point that's worth being made--honestly, it DOES share problems with recovery/mmlp2--but that's not where you go to make your climactic argument about a record.
Apr 28, 2015 I could see that, i've never thought about it in comparison to recovery, but imo it's a better, more enjoyable, and overall varied record than mmlp2. I can see 'the tired eminem fingerprint' on both, but think this style suits yela better, generally. if nothing else, yela's singing are improved versions of stronger than i was
Apr 28, 2015 yeah this is probably better than the last two eminem records, but that's more an indictment of those than praise for this. nothing coming out of shady has been good in, what, ten years?
Apr 28, 2015 At least. By default, could this be the best shady records product in over a decade? (recovery has its issues, and isnt great, but the stan in me still appreciates it)
Apr 28, 2015 i mighttttttt give that distinction to the slaughterhouse album, which--despite also being a ~4.5 or 5 out of 10--has a handful of songs i wouldn't really be embarrassed to play outside. there's no "hammer dance" here.
