When it comes to hip hip a bunch of hipsters shouldn't be the most well known reviewers

Maybe, although for the points Pitchfork makes about Love Story (watered down, artist excels at mixtapes/bad at albums), I think actually applies more for Slaughterhouse. most of their album material is serviceable, but is rly rly mediocre. i wouldnt be embarrassed to jam hammer dance cruising around, but i'd more likely be bored.

Frankly, I think Love Story just barely succeeds as a pop album, or maybe a hip hop flavored rock country album... so I wouldn't be sad if American You gets some summer airplay.

The b-boy wigger Outer Space s--- can go. Same with tracks like disappear.

As a hip hop album, these reviews are on point but this is not a hip hop album! It crosses so many genres

IMO, the last good record they put out was Cheers in 2003, which I can still listen (nearly) all the way through to this day.

Recovery wasn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be (IIRC Pitchfork gave it ~2), but it's also far from a good record.

As an aside, I really enjoy the hook of Empty Bottles on the Yelawolf record.

Why though? Clearly i'm not a biased fan. I hate radioactive but love "love story". I hate welcome to our house but I love slaughterhouse's earlier work. I was actually a huge follower of their early movements.

    looks about right

my favorite rap fans are the ones who dismiss the guccis/boosies/waynes/juves of the world yet cape for inferior rappers who built their styles off the greats

sure, but his taste in post-2008 rap is pretty hilariously predictable for an internet-bound white rapper--largely guys who are ostensibly "lyrical" but lack any real color or innovation. allan kingdom is great. but goldlink, logic, vic mensa, mac miller--these are guys who are pale imitations of superior artists. like, you refuse to listen to future but youv'e got the slaughterhouse album there?
