    Bro, it's like a 3 minute video lol. It's basically about this city in New Jersey which is riddled with crime and how they've changed police protocol. They've emphasized de-escalation and have pushed their officers to find other ways to deal with situations besides firing their gun. You should watch the video because they show examples of these techniques working.

    The clip of the guy with the knife looked like a lot of wasted time and resources, tbh. Could have just hit him with a taser right away.

    This is really awesome @Enigma but doesnt work in every situation. Really like how they handled these situations though.

    Of course its great when it works. We get training like this a lot tbh

    This doesn't even look like reform of any kind, it kind of just looks like they're doing their jobs correctly, lol.

    Obviously videos like the ones used as examples here don't go viral, there's nothing special about them. Nice to see a major publication actually saying "not all cops are bad" for once, though.

    The guy appears to be mentally ill. Using a taser would have likely just have agitated him more if it didn't put him down. One of the big issues police in the U.S. fail to do is being able to address individuals with mental illness. They are unstable and officers typically k--- them because of that.

    Obviously not but promoting that shooting your firearm should be a very last resort is essential. Also, police officers talking to people and de-escalating is HUGE as well. There are so many instances where you see officers contributing to the escalation of a situation which ends in violence. That's not how it should be. Police shouldn't walk around like an occupying force. They should walk around and talk like they're part of the community.
