Jan 17, 2015 Dudes act like TV shows have only been a thing since the 90s. Let me hit you with that TV Land special. Lucy Ricardo (I Love Lucy) Fred Sanford (Sanford and Son) Fonzie (Happy Days) Jack Tripper (Threes Company) George Jefferson (The Jeffersons) Fred Flinstone (The Flinstones) Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show) Rose Nylund (The Golden Girls) Gilligan (Gilligan's Island) Archie Bunker (All in the Family)
Jan 17, 2015 Too many to name honestly. I'm 20. Guess I'm the only person who watched Nick@Nite on one these:
Jan 17, 2015 1. Fox Mulder / Dana Scully - The X-Files 2. Kenny Powers - Eastbound & Down 3. Walter White / Jesse Pinkman - Breaking Bad 4. Adrian Monk - Monk 5. Columbo - Columbo 6. Maurice Moss - The IT Crowd 7. Al Swearengen - Dead Wood 8. Jax Teller - Sons of Anarchy 9. John Constatine ( I know it's early, but still) - Constatine 10. Rick Grimes - The Walking Dead This is currently my PERSONAL Top 10.. it will most likely change over time, just like my top films. I have a lot more favorites from the golden age of TV.. but they aren't in my top 10 atm.
Jan 17, 2015 Nah, I'm with you. Recently turned 19 but I've been familiar with 70's sitcoms since I was a kid. My Dad watched them with his grandparents as a kid, grew to love them, and the same thing happened with me. We had a channel called Deja Vu and used to watch All in the Family and Gilligan's Island and whatnot. All in the Family really pushed the envelop when it came to TV programming, though it may seem pretty calm compared to today's standards. Remember when Edith was almost r---d? It was one of the first shows that wasn't afraid to get serious and dark, yet be able to maintain it's appeal as a family sitcom. I'll never forget how touching the slipper scene was. Keeping it vague in case you haven't watched up to that point (it occurred on the spinoff show, Archie Bunker's Place) but it was one of the most important moments (and what I consider to be the true ending to the series as a whole) in the history of the show.
Jan 17, 2015 Ari Gold, Don Draper, Larry David, Ricky (Trailer Park Boys), George Costanza, Tyrion Lannister. There are plenty more but suppose my tv watching is limited. EDIT: Forgot Michael Scott. That guy is ridiculous. Dwight Schrute was pretty good to.
Jan 17, 2015 Did not expect to have this conversation today lol. @LasiK While I don't remember that, I do remember this: For those who don't know, this is the first of a two part episode of Diff'rent Strokes where a bicycle shop owner is a paedophile who coerces the boys into drinking wine and stripping down for a photo s---t.
Jan 17, 2015 Yeah, bro. Don Draper and Tony Soprano have got nothing on the multi-layered character arcs of Fonzie and Fred Flintstone
Jan 17, 2015 It's like comparing Michael Jordan to Wilt Chamberlain. Different eras. Before TV bastardized film. I was just listing answers people probably wouldn't have in a thread with this demographic. I just recently started watching Mad Men and couldn't stand Don Draper after a couple seasons. His backstory is stupid and he's an irredeemable a------. His supposed character revelations are forgotten almost instantaneously. Good show, I just don't find him that interesting.
Jan 17, 2015 Just finished Season 4 and it's godly. Not necessarily best, but some favorites off the top of my head: Stringer Bell Omar Little Tony Soprano Paulie Gualtieri Don Draper Al Swearengen Larry David Hank Hill Walter White Frank Gallagher Mark Corrigan & Jeremy Usbourne (can't have one without the other, their dynamic is too good)
Jan 17, 2015 I haven't watched many american series (Lost, Prison Break, House MD, BB and a few others) but I'd expect Greg House to be here. Frasier's really fun, props @Koolo for Niles I really liked Maxine Peake as Martha Costello on Silk, british series. And Sherlock ofc
Jan 17, 2015 When I saw Niles I thought about that episode where Frasier and him were making fun of that dog whisperer, still laugh when I think about it. Seeing these lists, there are so many shows I haven´t seen yet, I watch more movies, and some shows that are on tv here. Will download a few shows when I got more time to watch it. As for now, I'll just name some from shows I watch or have watched on tv, I´m sure I´m forgetting some but I guess Charlie Runkle (californication) HM: Richard Bates, Stu Beggs, Hank Dean Winchester (Supernatural) Kramer (Seinfeld) HM: George, obviously Ari Gold (Entourage) Al Bundy (Married With Children) Gibbs (NCIS) Martin, Niles, Frazier (Frazier) Hotchner (Criminal Minds) Dwight/Michael (The Office) Didn't include cartoon characters, some of my favourites there are Cartman, Peter Griffin, Randy, Butters, to many to name, CN was great back in the days as well. Really need to watch more shows lol
