Signed up Jun 30... so about a 3 month wait, Fort Sill Oklahoma for basic training(12 weeks, Originally 9, but I get to come home for two weeks for Christmas). Fort Huachuca AZ for my job training(20 weeks).

DOPE! how do you like it? how long was your wait to get in? what do you do?

I'm gonna talk to a recruiter sometime next week. I want to make sure I have 3-4 fields that I want to get into and make sure I have call the questions I need to ask about.

First off, make sure you score high in the ASVAB test. The higher your scores, the larger range of jobs you can choose from.

Secondly, f--- recruiters. They tell you what they want to tell you. I hate them. Ask as many questions as you want regardless how annoyed they may be.

Lastly, the air force is amazing. Sure it has it ups and downs. Every job does. The best thing about being in the air force its one of the best organizations work for that will pay you to make yourself better, along with doing the job they ask you to do.

I only waited i think 3 months to go to basic. I actually switched jobs so I could leave sooner, otherwise my wait would of been like 8 months. My job is Airfield Operations. I deal with everything that involved airfield stuff, air traffic, and construction.

Awesome. Yeah i'm actually gonna take the practice ASVAB test now. See what it's all about. I'm hoping my wait will be roughly 3 months. Don't wanna be at my current job any longer than i have to lol I'm gonna do my research on jobs tonight as well, officially.

How was basic?

Basic was a good experience. The first two weeks you'll be like wtf did I sign up for?! After that though, it's really not bad. Basic has changed a lot since I went in. They've toned it down a lot because of the sexual harassment incidents that happened last year and just realized the s--- they were teaching us wasn't needed for today's Air Force culture.

Being in shape and athletic will help for sure.

I look back on it now, and it's really laughable compared to the s--- i've seen and done now 8 years in. Just keep a low profile and don't bring attention to yourself, like being inappropriate or doing what they ask you to do.
